Is the coaching bad?

I think Brent wants to be a smash-mouth, run between the tackles guy and has dictated that to BF a bit. But also, the passing threats have been severely hampered this season. Also, we have a ton of guys banged up at RB and TE, to go along with QB.
It has always been the case that we do not recruit at the level required to play smash mouth football. We need to leverage intelligence and creativity to succeed.

Maybe the defense was better because our "best" player was missing. Team over individual. Stats don't necessarily define "best".
The defense wasn’t necessarily better without him. It has just continued its trend of improvement. But I get that this board loves to öööö all over Efford.

That's pretty wild. Efford is the man, and anyone who thinks otherwise is a tool.
Agreed. I thought the defense played well. If they didn't give up that easy TD in the red zone then it would have been impressive. If Efford was in the game, then I don't think that TD would have happened. The linebacker(s) didn't line up properly and the TE walk into the end zone with no one covering him.

LOL, how long have you been a Tech fan? There have been some electric offenses at GT (1990's and some of PJ years) and then also some great defenses (mid 2000's with Gailey and Tenuta). Not sure why we can't have both at the same time. 1990 was the Best of Both Worlds (enter Van Halen song) but that team was special.

I really don't have an answer other than it's tough to consistently get great players to come here, at least in the past. I believe NIL and the portal is changing that and we should benefit from it.

It's just fate people. Admit and move on that it's just difficult to be a Tech fan, but for our own reasons we love it.
'"Love hurts"

Right, but he's better than Pyron.

Maybe. Pyron has had success; admittedly, he did not have a good game against VT. The true freshman came in with zero expectations into a game situation. A bit early to declare anyone better. Philo didn’t exactly light up VT either and completed less than half of his passes.

All-in-all, Philo is the better athlete. Only time will tell how good he will be, but just from what I've seen from him, he's the better option for back up.
