Poor kid, that pretty much ended his career. I blame Alabama's coaches though. It was in the 4th quarter with like less than nine minutes left, and the score was 31-3. There was no reason to run up the score.
I remember seeing that catch, didnt know it was the same guy though, but dont recall the pic.thats the same kid that did this:

The game was a blowout and the kid did not even need to be in there...
Yep. The kid should never have been in that game at that point. If you watch the video of the injury, which is like watching a slow motion train wreck, you see the UF defender bring his weight down on Prothro, which is probably what caused the injury. It was stupid and arrogant to have that kid playing at that point of the game, and he suffered a career ending injury for it.The game was a blowout and the kid did not even need to be in there...
I remember that game; it was excruciating to watch as a Gator fan. I feel bad for the guy too, as he definitely had a excellent potential NFL career ahead of him.Poor kid, that pretty much ended his career. I blame Alabama's coaches though. Hopefully, however, a lesson was learned that running up the score is to no one's benefit.
Mormons are silly, and they wear silly underwear.I felt this pissed off when Tony Hollings got hurt, because it was the same thing. I still wish death upon those damn Mormons everytime they play.
Haha ironic--possibly hypocritical?--I know, but UF has been on the opposite end of blowouts several times, the 1996 Fiesta Bowl against Nebraska is a glaring example. What goes around comes around I guess. This coming from a gator fan?
You have a point--it looks like I sort of opened up a can of worms here--but let me say that I feel if Alabama would have played less aggressively and chewed up the clock on the ground instead, this might not have happened. It could have happened to a backup, and it would have been no less horific. So what's it matter if they were running up the score?
