Any insight as to why this has occurred. Jonathan Davis says he's not sure why they've reconsidered the offer. "Have the Yellow Jackets officially rescinded the scholarship offer? Davis paused for a few seconds, and then said. “I have no idea. I haven’t heard from [Tech].”

Are we full at this position? Is there a higher/more talented recruit flying under the radar that we're on the verge of getting....?

academics? conduct? no room in the inn?

Just curious. Link:http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/s...cruit/entries/2008/12/11/tucker_lb_davis.html

Grades are one issue, attitude is another,

Just hope Tucker wins state on Friday.

Attitude is 90%, talent is 10%. The best players are always the one with the good winner and team attitude. Look at the difference between Stafford and Tebow. I am certain Stafford has more talent, but Tebow wins games on heart alone. He is about the team, not his draft stock. Stafford can't even beat a measly ACC team.

grades were not the deal killer...although they were not lights out.

Hmmmm...I said grades the first time I heard his name and "transferred TO Tucker HS" in the same sentence. That place is bad news - many of UGAs worst were products of Tucker HS.

I understand that there are exceptions to the rule but there is a higher probability that Tucker students will not survive what it takes to get through GT.

Several made it thru GT in the 70's, but not since then. New coach there is OK, they lost their previous coach to Peachtree Ridge.

I think there may be another factor at play. It now appears that we might have a very good shot at swinging Mike Gilliard of Valdosta away from UGA. He is best friends with Foster the kid that changed from Tennessee to Tech and apparently at the Tech/UGA game he actually went over to the Tech dressing room and celebrated with several of our players he has gotten to know during camps and earlier visits. I think this combined with the fact we most likely will get Julian Burnette out of Macon make Davis expendable. That in addition to the other factors previously mentioned.

Go Jackets!

Just heard from a guy in the office with current ties to THS, JD wants to attend South Carolina Chicken School with Mr Wonderful Steve.

The QB there is talking to Citadel and West Point. That QB can run and option, look at last weeks game or Friday night.

Just for reference, neither JD, nor his Dad, had heard about the scholarship getting pulled. In fact, he was thinking about committing "next week."

When I find out more I'll post it.

Makes a good story but not sure about that. I know nothing of Stafford other than his stats, but IMO Tebow is no "Rudy".

Tebow may have a good attitude but there is no way to deny the talent as well. Stafford is an immobile pocket passer, maybe suited well for an NFL team with a good OL. Tebow is just as talented a passer but throws in a running threat and is tough enough to take the punishment.

Tebow is more than a QB who excels in college but can't make the next level. The media is wrong; he will excel at the next level as well. He will follow in the footsteps of Steve Young and Donovan McNabb and emphasize passing over running as a pro, but continue to use the running threat effectively. (He will probably run too much as a rookie too, just like Steve Young and Donovan McNabb.)

Fair points but there are far more Alex Smiths than there are Steve Youngs and Donovan McNabbs. The deck will be stacked against Tebow just as it is any QB moving from college to the NFL - few survive to reach adequate NFL player much less superstar level (like Young or McNabb).

From my sources, this article is completely, 100% incorrect.

:p

To Hell With Marist.

What? Tucker has never done anything for Georgia Tech...not since OL Kyle Frederick (20 yrs ago) back in the 80's. Tucker is a UGA pipeline.

Marist...however...has been very good to GT:

Kelly Rhino
Matt Miller
Andrew Economos
Will Heller
Preston Lyons
Hugh Reilly
Cooper Taylor
Matt Harpring (hoops)
Amanda McDowell (tennis)
Lisa Carlson (volleyball)
Mary Ashley (volleyball)
Katherine Locker (swimming)
Casey Arundel (swimming)

I am sure I am missing a bunch of them!!

I know Marist has been good to GT and I hope we keep the pipeline going, but personally they are like Duke basketball. It seems like they get all the calls, all the bounces, and all the press.
