J. Davis: Scholarship offer pulled. (per ajc)

"Heart" in a QB is even better when that QB is 6'4 and fast @ 245#

JWE37, you are correct, I grew up here, Marist is like ND, just another bunch of fish eaters. Always perfect in their own minds.

From my sources, this article is completely, 100% incorrect.

So you are saying that GT is still recruiting him? Article says he is planning on taking up to 4 visits in January - you are saying he was going to commit next week. Hivered seems to imply we are not recruiting him anymore. Can anyone answer the following?

Are we recruiting him anymore
A) Yes
B) No

If answering A to the above question,
Do we have a shot at getting him?
A) Yes
B) No

To Hell With Marist.

Why so down on Marist? Other than they recruit kids to come play ball?

We currently have (and have had in the past) some good kids from Marist. Cooper Taylor immediately comes to mind. Preston Lyons transferred here from Colgate last year and should prove to be very good.

I believe the kid Economos is from there as was Kelly Rhino.

Don't hate on Marist here. As your HS rival, they may deserve it but they feed us some pretty good kids.

Come on now. The kids can't help it. It's what their parents expect out of the place.

You come from just as good of a school and a lot better in many, many respects.

We love Taylor, though, don't we? I think you'll like Preston Lyons, also. Don't make them think any less of the Golden Lions. Be better than that.

Don't get me wrong...my current roommate went to Marist, and I have numerous friends that use to be War Eagles. I grew up in a neigherhood with Economos, went to the same grade school as Harpring, went to middle school with Mary Ashley Tippins, watch Amanda McDowell demolish our tennis team, and currently root for Cooper as much as the next guy.

Doesn't mean I have to like Marist.

Are your parents SPX alums?

No and NO.

Your parents probably remember St. Joseph's H.S. then; y'all were our biggest rival. But when we sold out for the skyscraper dough, everyone went up to Pius. Yuck, Puke. Snobs. My sister went to my biggest rival! I can't take it. Yuck, Puke. At least we have our most recognized alumnus, Cynthia McKinney representing us. OH GOD, YUCK, PUKE! St. Joseph's was at the old site of Marist before they moved. Man, what goes around comes around.

I know Marist has been good to GT and I hope we keep the pipeline going, but personally they are like Duke basketball. It seems like they get all the calls, all the bounces, and all the press.

Hey...I grew up despising them...I went to Peachtree and then Dunwoody until graduating in the mid 80's.

However, now that I am older I appreciate the system they have in place..and the discipline they play with.
I have watched teams infinitely more talented than Marist get pounded by them simply because of execution. I can respect that.

St. Pius gave us Philip and Nick Rogers...have to like them!

Fair points but there are far more Alex Smiths than there are Steve Youngs and Donovan McNabbs. The deck will be stacked against Tebow just as it is any QB moving from college to the NFL - few survive to reach adequate NFL player much less superstar level (like Young or McNabb).

I read an article in ESPN Magazine that Mizzou's senior backup QB is a better bet to make the NFL than Chase Daniel. He was the prototype QB when recruited, tall, accurate passer, but was displaced when he couldn't run the new offense at Mizzou.

To his credit, he stuck it out rather than transfer and learned the offense with Daniel's help well enough to rise to backup status.

As you said, the odds are against any QB making it in the NFL. This guy will probably be a draft bargain as he isn't even a starter, but most believe he has a better shot at the NFL than the guy he plays behind.

But Tebow isn't Chase Daniel. He's a combination of that prototype NFL QB and a good college QB like Chase Daniel.

Like to make a wager on that??

Sure sounds like we are no longer going after him. You don't just stop calling a recruit if you want him. Plus I would guess that means James is lying since he said all the stuff. He said GT isn't contacting him and didn't say anything about a visit to GT. Word is he is off the board.

Or maybe you stop calling a recruit because it is exam time, not to mention that the recruit is in the state finals and doesn't need any added distractions.
