Jabari done

Fits my theory.

:P

Although wildly speculative, at least it explains something.

I have stopped trying to figure out what is going wrong and am looking at next year to see if this is a trend or a fluke.

These were our expected depth charts at A and B back at the end of last season. I've bolded the guys that were lost for much or all of the season, and added italics to those with experience.

B-Back:
Leggett
Weimerskirch
Skov
Marshall
Allen (moved from LB)

A-Back:
Andrews
Snoddy
Searcy
Willis
Lynch
Benson
Cottrell
Marshall
Jarrett
McClellan (lol)
Lands-Davis (moved from BB)
Griffin (moved from CB)

Are you seriously suggesting that we should have been prepared for having to rely what basically amounts to our 10th string A-back and 4th string B-back?

By the Clemson game, our A-back rotation literally consisted of 2 walkons, a freshman who was basically an afterthought to fill a late recruiting hole, and a guy who literally moved from CB right before the game.

The chart above shows that we did not expect to have to rely on any of the guys we ended up having to. We expected to have 2 talented, experienced A-backs with an athletic RS-Fr backing them up, and 2 serviceable players waiting in the wings. At B-back we had two guys who had at least spent a year in the program and should have complimented each other well. Skov was a stopgap and Marshall never should have had to play as a freshman.

I am seriously suggesting that we didn't have a single b-back with game experience and two a-backs with game experience, but CPJ ran one of them off. Because of that, we are left with unknowns, which might be injury prone players or young guys who should of had a year in the weight room and on the practice field. I remember Tony Zenon getting in as a freshman, but he didn't really contribute until his senior season.

We were thin in real game experience by design. We've known it's coming.

By design? As in intentionally?

We've known it was coming, but it was circumstance, not design.

We didn't react very well to circumstances two years ago. We also seem to have a lot higher attrition from contributing players (Summers, Jabari, Commissong, Andrews, etc.). I think most of us expected a senior laden offensive line to pick up the slack, but we were wrong.

Is it running a player off when they are dropped from the team for rules violations?

You wouldn't have to do it in the numbers we do if you have the pulse of the team or identify problems before they're fifth year seniors. Somethings missing and someone is paid not to make mistakes on talent evaluation, ability to enter or continue their schooling, and teaching offensive linemen to not let someone run by them untouched.

We ended up with a bunch of unprepared young guys for a reason. To write it off as bad luck is a mistake.

God bless you Captain Hindsight!
