Good call. He would have been something really special had he stayed healthy. The one game against Clemson I believe, he played as well as any RB I have ever seen.My favorite RB is still the brief flash of amazement that was Tony Hollings before his leg blew up.
Lavette scoring the winning TD in Tuscaloosa against #1 Alabama in his first game as a freshman was pretty cool tooWe've had a bunch of good ones. Lavette outgaining Herschel tho...
Lavette made some of the best 8-12 yard runs was what I remembered about him. He went to my high school in Cartersville and from what I hear still lives close by.Robert Lavette is still my favorite GT RB of all time. Jerry Mays a close second.
Thanks for the big laugh 18in32, classic!
I don't want to keep blathering on about the guy but, to me, he is the best pure running back I've seen in a Tech uniform.Lavette made some of the best 8-12 yard runs was what I remembered about him. He went to my high school in Cartersville and from what I hear still lives close by.

Remember the scenes in the Matrix or XMen where the one guy would come after the other guy and the other guy would de-materialize and re-materialize on the other side of the first guy? That was Lavette.
that one over-the-shoulder catch was all I needed to see to know he's got pass-catching abilities...
Oh crap, I remember him now! We met before, btw??Once upon a time, you and I met at a game watching event. It may have been more than one. Interestingly enough I do remember you talking about Rashaun in some depth. I wasn't native to Tampa and at the time didn't follow recruiting so I had no idea the hype about him.
I'm still bitter about NC State 2005 and a bogus yellow flag PI on a Bobo pass at the end of the UGAg game
I was never more upset over a sports call than when the SEC refs called that bogus PI penalty that literally stole the game from us and gave it to Georgia on the last play. For some reason, that just really got to me. I was so upset. I didn't think we'd ever have a fair chance to beat them again.
"TECH"
what more do we want
“We run this academic field”We are TECH. I wish everything we we have just said TECH. I wore a grey sweat shirt today with just big gold TECH on it. Nobody was confused about who I was for. We don't need to put the word Georgia on anything.
If that’s the slogan, our name should be “Everything but Animal Husbandry”“We run this academic field”
Eddie Lee Ivery gained 1,562 yards in 11 games in 1978. He gained 356 yards against Air Force in the snow. First round draft choice by the Packers. Does anyone know what he is doing now?
I found this article about Eddie Lee.
