James Johnson responds to booing....

From ESPN.com:
"That really hurt me," said Johnson, the lone bright spot for the Georgia Tech offense with seven catches for 136 yards. "I'm pretty sure it hurt every other player, too."

I hope it hurt and I hope he didn't like it. I hope it haunts the team through next season. Give me a break HT. This isn't U-8 girls soccer. It's Div-IA major college football.

Everyone who pays for a ticket, tunes in to watch or follows the team is a fan. We love TECH and we love TECH football. When TECH gets embarrassed on the field, it hurts me. I'm pretty sure it hurts every other fan, too.

By the way, I played D1-AA college football before 2 knee injuries ended my career and I transferred to TECH. I have my degree from TECH and I do not boo at college football games.

I do think the team was not prepared for this game. I think the players were not focused. I think the personnel packages made no sense. I think adjustments were not made in a timely manner. Finally, I know I am NOT worried about this team feeling dissatisfaction from the fan base. And, I know D Rad has heard what I think.

Unlike posting opinions on an internet board, this can and will hurt recruiting and demoralize the team. We should not be boo'ing Chan and the players during games.

what hurt recruiting worse?

that performance or the crowd? come on

What Chan is going through is small potatoes compared to what I heard at a Florida/Tennessee game a few years back when Zook made one of his typically idiotic coaching decisions right before half which basically gave the game to Tennessee. Those gator fans were ready to run him right out of town and there was little discussion of the players having hurt feelings. Sometimes these boys have to "man up"

I expect this of the redneck SEC fans. This is exactly why I have always been proud to say I did not graduate from a factory like Tenn, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Florida, etc.

Not only we were booing at an amateur event...we boo'ed and drowned out a "don't drink and drive" message.

As someone who has lost people I knew on two different occassion to idiots that have been drinking...the act of booing at that time was stupid in a multitude of ways.

99% of the time when people react with emotion without applying logic and using their mind first...it is a bad thing.

No Tech fan wants to boo his own team, but that's what happens to good people that have lived thru the bunker mentality years of Dave Braine and Chan Gailey.
I see the booing as a desperate plea to Dan to make a coaching change now, or to make the announcement that CG will not be returning in '08 now.

If he does, the booing that will occur during the unc and uga games will only be from those that wanted to boo Thursday night, but were'nt there in person.

It's time for Gailey to move on. He and Dan surely
have come to that conclusion.

I hate to break the news to you but, losing brings out the boo birds i.e. ask bobby bowden. I dont think any player out there thought the boos were directed at them. Friends get ready if he is back, there will be near anarachy

I understand there will be booing. Just because it happens it does not make it acceptable or the correct thing to do.

Regarding the players...of course they knew it was not directed at them...but many on here fail to understand the relationship of a player and coach at this particular level of sport. It hurts a player as if he were being boo'ed himself. Just ask JJ.

Ask JJ, what hurt the most losing to VT or hearing boos.

I'm not someone who boos at GT football games, at least I haven't done it yet. But I wish instead of our players responding with 'That hurt my feelings' they would respond with 'That made me mad'. One response is just more defeatist than the other.

Players if you want to keep your coach, if you really like him; you got to start winning games. If you want to keep CCG you cannot lose another game this year, period. The message you (the team) clearly sent Thursday night was 'DRad, we need a new coach'. Whether you meant to send that message or not, you could not have been more clear.

I would have stood out there in front of 50K booing the crap out of me 12 times a year for a free college tuition. Hell I'd do it right now for rent money.

Me too, but I probably wouldn't be playing very inspired football to please the people booing me.

Tech fans are bitter nerds who need to learn when enough is enough.

I stayed until the very end. It was difficult for me to tell where the booing was coming from because there were hardly any GT fans left at the game. I sit in 104 (lower west) and there wasn't a GT fan within 10-20 feet of me. It seemed to me that the booing was coming primarily from the student section, but it was hard to tell.

beej, the fact is that some people boo when teams don't play well. This isn't the first time it's happened at Tech and it's happened at virtually every school in the country. I'm sorry the players are upset, but if they would win some games they wouldn't hear the noise. This is on Chan and his inability to produce to the expectations he's set.

If Tech fans are bitter nerds, what are Miami fans, or FSU fans, or NCSU fans, or MD fans or .....?
