This is more of an indictment of our OL and Key, than it is of Collins, which in turn is then an absolute indictment of Collins.

It seems like he planned to transfer due to playing time and likely feeling like he’s been slighted. Ironically PT will be abundant here, but I suppose the bridge was already burned.

WTF ever… good luck to him.

In my opinion, the biggest factor in the transfers has been the overall record the past several years. Especially given that the coaching staff made a big deal about this year being the year we would win. Players, especially good ones who have options, are sick of losing.

Running back has been the best unit on our team, so I don't think Choice bears much responsibility for our record. In addition, all of his players have had great things to say about him, so I think he has a good relationship with them. Beyond coaching them up to play well, which he does, and maintaining a good relationship with them, which he also seems to do, I'm not sure what more he can do. Nothing he says can change the fact that this is a program with nine wins in the past three years and little to get excited about next year. If fans can see it, then so can players.

You say Choice has the most responsibility to keep them on the correct path, but perhaps transferring is the correct path for them. Obviously from a fan's standpoint it's not, but maybe for them it is.

Dad should realize that none of those guys on that list, including his son, went on to do much of anything in college. Dameon Pierce had the best career out of all those guys, and he only ended up with 1,749 career rushing yards. Most of those guys either didn’t play DI ball or were third stringers their entire career.

Did you just say their position coach should be recommending they leave? That he is advising them that transferring is the correct path for them? That's what you post implies.
 
I hope Antonio Martin enrolls early. He could be a good one for us. Rated slightly higher than Griffin and about the same size. Griffin had some serious toughness about him though.

No, I don't think he should be recommending they leave. He should do everything within his power to get them to stay, short of lying or knowingly misrepresenting things.

But I also don't buy that a player transferring necessarily means that his position coach has failed to keep him on the correct path, as you said. Depending on the player's goals and desires, as well as the state of the program, a player may want to transfer for valid reasons that are outside the control of his position coach.

Given how well our RBs have performed, how they have all said good things about Choice, and how bad the rest of our program has been, I believe this is one of those cases. The best RB coach in the world wouldn't be able to say anything that could erase the memory a senior day played in front of 90% opposing fans or a 3-9 WIN21 season.
 
Isn't his brother also on the roster at DT? I may have missed it, but is he still around?

Is dad implying that he got nudged out? It doesn't make sense given the smallest RB room we've had since stockpiling a dozen or so for as many years back. I guess if Collins is gonna start processing guys now would be as good a time as any with the honeymoon over
