Jaybo Shaw

I think the whole ratings and stars is a lot of hoopla and hype. The recruiting process will work itself out. Theres soo many twists and turns and broken promises its not worth the aggravation of trying to keep track of it all.

I know this- Paul Johnson has been around the block long enough to know all about this process. Finding 20 outstanding football players will be easy in a BCS Conference. Georgia Tech has a great education and experience to sell. Atlanta is a nice city.

While at Navy - PJ recruited his style of players with a rigid admissions policy, tough academics, height/weight restrictions, and a military committment. If he can get good players that win 8+ games a year- he can do it at GT.

Does anyone know if Terrell Pryor out of Pennsylvania has looked at GT?

“I like running the ball and I like to throw it,” -Jaybo Shaw

Welcome to the Flats young Mr. Shaw. We have a couple of requisites in case you havn't heard. At the end of the day you'd better bee dirty AND you'd better be ready to whip some dawg butt.

Proud to have you on board.

LET'S GO JACKETS!!!

I know you don't care what the recruiting services say but Rivals rates Shaw the #8 dual threat quarterback and 3 stars.

Scouts has him at 2 stars with 4.6 speed and 5'11. and a poor vertical & broad jump. And if the new offense is only going to throw 122 times..(a-la Navy) who cares what his arm looks like, he's just a pork chop for the dogs.

Good to see a D-I prospect come out of a North Georgia region, especially one that's going to GT. Pickens High alum here (I believe Jaybo played against Pickens). I believe JD is a Gilmer alum, and I'm sure he can attest to how few GT fans there are in those parts.....

Great get for Tech. Redshirt for a year and then start for two or three. Reminds me of Dewberry and Godsey. Will do whatever to win. And speaking of stars: was the ND QB the highest rated QB in the nation?

He's a legit 6" 185 with 4.6 speed. Rivals has him a three star and they have a tighter ranking system than Scout. Which leads one to believe Jaybo will be at least a 3 star from Scout shortly.

Matt Stafford, coming out of high school was 6' 3" 210lbs, 4.7 speed.

Get on the bandwagon dude...

wrecknball, have you ever observed in person a player run a 4.6? If so, slow is not how you'd describe it, especially for QB.

I know that doesn't look impressive but he could start from Game 1.He has a 4.2 shuttle time which is more important than 40 in this O , good passing stats AND can handle the ball.Ck out PJs QBs at Navy. Some were ex-running backs! getting 30 pt/game

Wreckingball, anyone to come on here with your attitude and choice of words, it suggests to me that you are a Dawg. Go away or if you really are a fan, then what the heck does your negative b.s. do for our program right now?

Why is Scout more believable than Rivals? Rivals has him rated the same as Renfree.

That was my point..neither are anymore reliable than the other when it comes to "star" rating.

So why did you make a big deal about Scout's star rating?

QB is by far the hardest position to judge anyway. If we had an RB with a 4.6 40, I would be worried. With QB though, I'll trust CPJ that he works well with his system to offer him.

and you're an internet dumbass, so I guess you're even?

Have you seen the kid play? Do you know anything about his decision making ability or his ability to make people miss? Does he have touch on his throws? Do you have a clue about football? If all that matters is "measurables" how does USC ever lose? Get a clue.

Yet YOU quoted scout's 2-star rating as a negative of Shaw to prove your point - or shoud I say agenda.

I used Scout only to reference the skills results while at the same time clarifying that I did not give much credence to either Scout or Rival when it comes to star ratings ( that was implied for the sake of brevity) My opinion at 1st glance is that his skills test results are nothing to get excited about and his size is a red flag. ..M.O. had nothing to with his star rating. star ratings are as meaningless as they are arbitrary.

Read up young man before you make yourself look any more foolish. Johnson will be passing much, much more than any of his previous offenses ever have. Johnson is a bright football guy and will take advantage of the players to which he will access as a coach in the ACC.

Sit back and watch and read up. You can learn alot more that way.

Wrcknbull, Why do you think Rivals has him ranked no.8 in the nation; ahead of most other top 25 QBs (along with hundreds of others)?.

And what do you think of Matt Grothe at USF?? He was ranked lower than Jaybo. USF was working on Jaybo as well. They know talent just like PJ knows talent.

Jaybo is a solid pickup, and possibly a great one.

4.6 is damn fast for a QB if it is legitimate. Rivals say 4.45 which is really fast for a QB. Yea, it's not freakish like Michael Vick but still really fast. I bet Choice probably runs around a legitimate 4.5.

Actually I thought I'd read in a couple of different places (one of which was an interview with Jaybo Shaw) that Johnson has said WTTE that we'll be looking to pass at a rate somewhere in between what he did at Hawai'i and what he did at Navy.

On the other hand, I do agree with your assessment that CPJ is a bright football guy and will take advantage of the skills his players have in the best way possible.
