My concern is that the award was based on the typo as opposed to the award was based on his actual performance and the typo was in the announcement.

The fan vote had the correct stats. I voted for Sims because Sims had a helluva game.

That was my initial thought as well, so I looked up the stats from that game. Turns out Reggie was 9/21 for 149 yds. Sims was 23/34 for 277 yds. That’s not much of a comparison at all. Sims competed 68% of his passes against a very good defense despite making a few pretty rough freshman mistakes. Just for further comparison, in Deshaun Watson’s first game as a freshman against FSU, he went 19/28 (68%) for 266 yds and lost.

I was right there with you in terms of being a naysayer, and I’m definitely still cautious with my optimism, but DAMN Jeff Sims looked pretty incredible for a true freshman.

Nothing but respect....FSU’s defense was not “very good”
