Jeff Sims

I don't want Key to be the next head coach because I think there are better coaches. That's my motivation for pointing out his errors, yes. I'm open to having my mind changed by the rest of the season.

Also I agree with GEETEELEE that whether he owns the mistakes and gets better is important. Collins would passive aggressively defend his dumb mistakes.

The critical factor is now have the bye week. For example, he now would have the time to have a more thorough fix for the punting. We will see what he can do with this time.

Eat my crow? Just because I don't think Key is a good coach doesn't mean I didn't think we'd beat Duke. Key made several obvious game management mistakes. Game didn't have to be close
So someone who is 2-0 isn’t a good coach? Duke’s only previous loss was in a close game to a ranked Kansas team that went to the end with another undefeated ranked team in TCU today.

Key deserves all the credit for getting GT to 3-3 heading into a bye week. A 5-7, outside shot at 6-6 is there now. Something that wasn’t possible just a few weeks ago.

Brent Key Facts:
Undefeated on the road
Undefeated at home
Undefeated in ACC play
Undefeated vs Top 25

Guess you think punting from the opponent's 36 on 4th and short with a minute in the half is brilliant.
I agreed with the call but thought we should have taken a delay of game penalty so Shanahan could try to pin them in a little better.

Interesting that you crticise the play but don’t say what you would have called. If you say “go for it” on fourth down then that will confirm you suck at armchair coaching.

Let's revisit it later in the season. Tired of arguing, just want to savor the win.

If Brent hadn’t dropped those passes…

Go for it on 4th. The chances of us converting and scoring were much higher than Duke stopping us and scoring. We were only 5-10 yards out of field goal range

I am extremely impressed by Coach Key. I would have thought that the only people complaining about the last two weeks would be people who do not want to see Tech succeed. I honestly don't understand how any Tech fan could be anything but happy and impressed by what Coach Key has done since he's been our head coach.

Key took over a boat that was riddled with holes and capsizing quickly. He had very little notice to make the boat seaworthy again and somehow managed to do enough to do so without losing a single sailor in the process -- and you're sitting here complaining about his patching technique.

Listen, I don't know if Key will be the next coach, or if he should be. But it's absurd to criticize him for not being a good coach at this point. He had a million things that needed to be fixed, and somehow managed to do enough to bring us two close wins over good teams. To expect not only that but also no mistakes from him is unreasonable.

Sims was awesome last night, but I have to question Long's ability to call the right plays at significant times. Red Zone offense obviously improved since the Pitt game, but his overall play calling late in the game leaves a helluva lot to be desired, and yes, I lay that on Long, not on Key.
