jekyll and hyde

It’s a hallmark of bad coaching.

Correct. The backup QBs weren’t ready. The blame for that goes on the prior coach.

Keep in mind before Key took over the only QB we saw for 3 years was Sims (even in garbage time).

This staff deserves credit for getting our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th string QBs ready mid-season and actually winning games with them.

Did they really look prepared when they first entered the games? They did not to me. I give the individual players credit for settling down and improving after getting thrown into the fire.

We’re winning games with back up quarterbacks. It’s OK to give the staff some credit.

Some of the ways people have bent over backwards to criticize Key since Saturday are pretty incredible. We've been told:

1. Key mismanaged the QB situation in the UNC game because he gave both QBs a couple series at the start before using them situationally the rest of the game en route to a major upset of the #13 team in the country while playing his third and fourth string QBs

2. Key's offensive gameplan against UNC wasn't very good because all it did was take advantage of the way UNC was lining up

3. Inexperienced backup QBs getting better as the game went on didn't show that their preparation kicked in as they started adjusting to the game, but rather than they were completely unprepared and prepared themselves midgame

I understand people who don't want Key, and who say things like, "I'm really happy for the win but don't still don't think Key is the guy."

But I don't get Tech fans who are so miserable that they have to make up nonsensical reasons to crap on a Tech coach after a road win against the #13 team in the country.

Again, CGC didn’t leave him with a “wretched base.” He had a ton of talent. Collins just sucked so bad at coaching, he made them look like trash. Same reason that everyone who transferred out is having a ton of success, even at schools like UVA.

In the pre-season, we were all wondering why Thacker was retained while so many other coaches were dismissed. We are starting to see now that Thacker appears to be a very good DC and Clown Collins' ineptitude was holding him back.

Not sold on Thacker. We have picked up a ton of turnovers similar to 2014. I am not sure that hasn’t just been a fluke.

However, the defense has improved immensely since collins was removed from the program.

Agreed. I lost my mind when he was retained. Maybe Goof was interfering. Or the sloppy unorganized and undisciplined practicing was the problem
