P.J. said tonight on his show that we may go to the 3-4 next year because of the lack of depth at DT...

Alabama is doing well with the 3-4 and because of that mammoth nose tackle..It starts with a mammoth nose tackle and P.J. also said that T.J. Barnes is dominating our OL in practice every day (at 6-7 345 lbs he fits the bill for that dominant nose tackle) along with big ole Lanier coming in..So a 3-4 may very well work good for us the next couple of years

U.N.C. has not been too shabby either with their 3-4...

Longe range I don't want to see us play a 3-4 but in 2009 and 2010 it might best fit us...

Hiver, he also said we will take probably 6 Dlineman in this next class, besides Lanier, who are the other 1 or 2 Dt's we are probably going to land ?

we do have the 'backers to play that system.

AT barnes, Jefferson, Jackson, and Griffin.

Throw in Sylvester, Clark and Munroe and we are pretty nasty.

I doubt it...very few teams are succeeding with the 3-4 as their base lineup.
I wasn't saying as a base but as a situational tool to get into a formation that works best for our best personnel. It really makes sense to have the best players on the field. Have the playmakers that can and will make the biggest impact on a play.

If you've got a huge guy in the middle, two DE's that you can line up as wide or tight as you'd like and then 4 LB's, you can see if you can get a decent 3 man rush....if not you've got 4 LB's to choose from each time. You then can attack whichever side of the OL that you think is the weakest.
