Joey Freshwater Da Us top target

my assumption was Miami can't or won't pay the money, but true, we don't know - just opinionating.
Just messing with you. Other than just a couple of guys on here who talk to AD folks regularly, we're all just opinionating

I know it sounds crazy but let's see - Live in Coral Gables or Oxford Mississippi. I like Mississippi but I don't want to live there and Coral Gables doesn't sound half bad to put up residency.
News flash…Dade County, FL is a crap hole

Why would he leave to coach Miami? Doubt they pay him what Ole Miss can.
Miami is a much better gig than Ole Miss. He's a good coach even if personally slimy. Rest of the coastal is going to leap ahead of Tech in coaching staff quality as Tech sits on a crap contract with a crap coach. As low as Tech has fallen, the bottom still lies below and we are headed there.

We will likely change coaches next season. If we changed coaches this season, Miami and VT would likely be higher in coach picking order anyway.

Those things can be overcome with a good AD. Yes Tech would lose in a battle for the hottest name currently available as other teams look to make new hires. That will also be true during and after next year. So we need a AD that can identify and hire a quality coach that isn't just a retread. Not many ADs are good at that. Tstan is a proven failure at it. We screwed either way. At least a change would show he gives a damn and there is little chance we make a worse hire than what we have currently.

1. Collins should get another year considering the young team.
2. We are gonna be in a better situation financially next season.
3. Tacking more and more coaching contracts we have to pay for years "to show you give a damn" is a bad idea.

Speaking of crazy ass contracts, I saw rumors of Mel Tucker 95 million, 10 year contract.

I know we are stuck with Collins for another agonizing year. My real point is we need a AD that doesn't have his head stuck up his own......

Lets find a AD who has shown he can find and hire an up and coming football coach. That's as hard as finding a good up and coming coach but imo more valuable. Tech will always struggle to retain a good and successful coach, see Bobby Ross. That's why it is extremely important we have the capability to do the best we can to retain one, if we ever find another one, and even more so be able to replace with quality anytime one moves to greener pastures.

Tstan sucks

I believe ( unfortunately ) that Collins will be here through the 2023 season. If he can win 6 or 7 games in those years TS will honor the contract term. After that, who knows?

How is getting paid less money in a place with a much higher standard of living a better gig? Less than $1 million for a house outside of Oxford gets you a sweet house on a pond with a pool.

Anything near Coral Gables or Miami in that range is a condo or in a sketchy part of town. I did find a boat slip though, if he has a yacht to park there

You think joey freshwater wants to live in Oxford ööööing Mississippi? Dude loves southern Florida, still has a place in Boca and wants to go chase tail in a place with more than 25,000 people where people can keep tabs on him. Miami football now has broad based support for football. Where they used to only spend money for football using money from football revenues, they now have advanced beyond that and are ready to spend SEC money. If I'm lane kiffin, I make this move yesterday.
His douchiness is a perfect fit for da u anyways

Kiffen has become a top coach. He was given opportunities way to early in his career and he got a reputation. But ever since his gig at Bama he has turned the corner into a legit coach. He ain’t going to Miami. He is coach in waiting at Bama. Mark it down. Everyone thinks they’ll go after Dabo. They won’t because Dabo is not the X’s and O’s guy. Bama wants a coach not a CEO. Kiffen will win at Ole Miss and then jump over to Tuscaloosa in 3-4 years.

I don't know if he still has a place in Miami or not. Weird you know

Almost anyone if given the chance to have higher pay and a higher standard of living will take it.

Ole Miss can raise his pay to $6 million+ a season and not blink about it. Miami would have to go out and steal catalytic converters all over town to even sniff that kind of pay.

And yes, there are babes in south Florida. There are also a whole bunch of fatties and old people

You're probably right. I could see him moving to Bama for $10 million a season of he is successful at Ole Miss and Saban retires.

I know because I heard it mentioned on a podcast. Strange to think knowing that fact is weird.

Miami still had tons of boosters and the support through the academic side has changed. Miami will likely be different in a few years, money wise.

Hilarious to bring up fat people in Florida when comparing against Mississippi, the fattest state in the country (if we exclude whatever state your mom is in)

I would prefer Lane go somewhere other than Miami or Ole Miss since GT plays both next year. And looking at the state of the secondary, Kiffin may get his Sun Bowl revenge to the tune of 650+ yds of offense if nothing changes between now and that Ole Miss game next year.
