Johnson vs D-Rad

From my source at Russell, I cannot post the pics and drawings I have of the new uniforms until after the official lunchin on April 14th to show them publicly.

Also, according to a very good souce, Coach Johnson and D-Rad got into a huge pissing contest about the uniforms. Johnson wants "Vegas Gold" and D-Rad (pandering to the alumni) wants "Old Gold". All the players want Vegas Gold and don't know yet the new uniforms have old Gold, not Vegas. However, the coaches on the sideline will be wearing Vegas Gold, not old this year. Johnson was quoted as saying, "F it, just do what you want to D-Rad."

Before anyone rips me apart as a liar, this is second hand info. I was not there and cannot confirm if any of this is true. So far my source has been 100% accurate, for what its worth.

players will wear old gold- coaches, vegas gold. how does that make sense? I don't get it-

What are these colors? Is old gold the throwback gold? What is vegas gold?

old gold is the ugly as shit, piss yellow we've worn the last 6-7 years.

I don't know how this "old gold" kick ever got started anyway, but it has gone much too far when it causes a big argument between our coach and AD.

We have got to be the only school in Division I, II, II, high school, middle school or elementary school in the entire freaking United States to get into so many stupid arguments about colors.

Let's just make Calvin Klein the athletic director and Giorgio Armani the head coach. We get the snot knocked out of us every Saturday but hey, at least we'll look Fabulous.

Just pick a gd color and get on with it.

not by a longshot...

clemson fans go on and on about orange vs purple
auburn fans are always bickeringa bout orange vs blue
...don't even get a Hurricane started about whether they should use green, orange, or white as the dominant color.

oh yeah...you should have heard FSU fans whining when they wore all black two years ago.

Bama has a defined color in crimson, but among the fans you see everything from bright red to dark maroon.

You almost can't buy a crimson shaker. There are a lot of NCSU and Miss State shakers in Tuscaloosa.

No, we've been wearing Vegas for a while haven't we? I don't think we've seen any old gold around here since the 70s at least.

That's true. Vegas gold is the piss yellow we've been wearing for years now. Old gold is real close to the throwbacks, so I think you could say we wore old gold in 2006 against UVA.

This next point is not directed at ncjacket, but the poster above who said that DRad is "pandering to the alumni" by wanting the team to wear old gold. Well, doesn't the other side of the coin exist also? If he caves and lets the players wear their choice (vegas gold), isn't he "pandering" to them?

Especially considering that old gold is an official color; vegas gold is not.

I had the same problem with blue. I knew we had used it before and it really looked good - but it wasn't an official color so I fought it. I said many times that they either need to get the blue out or make it official. Now it's official - I support it completely.

My suggestion is (and has been for a long time) to let the team select a uniform from the past to wear on Homecoming. That would be a way to let the players wear what they want (for one game) and start a neat unique tradition, but it would only be one game and would not change our colors de facto.

Vegas Gold = Urine, pale, kind of has a greenish tint depending on lighting
Old Gold = Throwback unis from 2006, originally used in 1969-70

Awesome, now I am happy, though not about an alleged dispute between Radakovich and PJ. And honestly, I don't even think it will be a big deal if the coaches wear the Vegas gold and the players wear the old gold. Not sure why, but I think it could work fine.

also sometimes referred to as Mustard, my sister calls it my Mustard Mistake when i wear a shirt of that color, but i think it looks good on a uniform

REAL Old Gold (throwbacks) Navy and white. Case closed.

See how easy?

A question for a textiles person - since many fans like the traditional look of the gold pants worn with white jerseys(more of an old gold than it is a Vegas gold), how hard would it be to do a jersey the same color as the traditional gold pants?

I have not minded the Vegas gold for home uniforms, and it is easier to do polos, jackets, Tees, etc in the Vegas gold. But, I loved the throwback gold jersey worn against UVA and think that gold is pretty close to the gold pants worn with white jerseys.

Finally, wearing an "all gold" pants, jersey, and helmet for a special game a year would be fun. We just need to stick with something, either Vegas gold or Old gold as primary color for all teams with Navy as trim.

Old Gold will look like sh!t with a gold helmet. Remember we wore a white helmet in the throwback game.
