Josh Nesbitt

i liked seeing anthony allen there at the end...he's huge!
maybe we'll have a little carnell williams/ronnie brown thing going for us.

OMG that video just got me jacked...Wow Allen looks like a beast and Nesbitt looks freakin FAST!

Is it me, or at the 0:52 mark does Josh fake the pitch? That's something I'd love to see him do more of. There were a couple of plays in the UGA game where a fake pitch may have resulted in taking it to the house since the safety was biting early on the pitch motion.

:+1:
That was exactly my thought.

Josh definitely fake pitched in games last year. He didn't do it a lot, though.

I've been to two practices this year and Nesbitt looks faster than ever. I thought JD looked big but AA is a monster.

Maybe I'm being overly paranoid here but I'm thinking it would be in AA's best interests to cut the dreads or atleast tuck them in his jersey... He looks like he's hard to bring down, and with his speed would be pursued from behind. I dunno, just my :twocents:

Flashback to game between Cincy and Pitt that left a dread on the field......:eek5:

Nesbitt has an elite burst (acceleration) that gives him his elusiveness. He also has tremendous body control and explosion that allows him to change direction on a dime, and juke people from a dead standstill. Tyrod Taylor is the only QB I can think of who is like Josh. Breathless acceleration.

All that said, Josh does not have homerun (i.e. top-end, straightline, sprinter's speed, like Dwyer, Wright, Peeples, or Perkins). He is yet to show what people call "that extra gear", or "breakaway speed". Josh runs about a 4.55 or 4.6. Most of his acceleration is in the first 10-20 yards. Dwyer continues to accelerate such that he creates seperation between himself and D-backs who are also at their maximum sprint.

There are several guys on the team who will pull away from him in a hundred yard dash after the first 30 yards. However, he's plenty fast to create some big gainers (a lot like Tashard Choice or James Davis). His his explosiveness & vision, combined with the spreading of the defense & downfield blocking this offense provides will spring him on occaision. But you won't see him pulling away from DBs unless Ciano can work with his top-end speed. Trainers can do a lot more with improving player speed than they could a few years ago.

Trainers can increase 40 speed but it's not quite as easy to increase playing speed. This is why NFL teams get screwed by the workout warriors in the draft every year. Playing at a fast speed and running a fast 40 are 2 totally different items.

You're probably right. Percy Harvin didn't run a fast 40 at the combine. But he was a guy that, on the field, you just couldn't catch him.

More motivation baby!

"I better really haul A** or else they might pull my damned hair!"

Anyone else notice the serious cut blocking going on? The one cut block in the beginning the O-line dove at the lineman's feet and disrupted him big time. Also the cut block when Shaw broke away. The cut blocking is def. looking better!

Maybe that is what all these fans of ACC schools mean by the "answer to the option"?

You can tell that JD was a serious sprinter in HS. He has great form with little wasted motion and remarkably he's able to carry it over to the FB field. Guys like Nesbitt probably haven't worked on form as much which limits their top end. Either way he's still fast. What you saw from JN late last year wasn't full speed because of his ankle.
