Actually Chancellor may be partially right.
I don't know how he can determine if we throw or run....but on the option plays think of this. If he knows how the defense is going to play the option (and he should), then he should know who will get the ball. If the defensive scheme on any particular play takes away the B back and keys on Josh, then Chancellor knows that the ball will go to an A back if Josh makes the right read. Same for any of the options. Since who gets the ball is determined by how the defense plays the ball, then if you know ahead of time how they will play it you should be able to figure out who should end up with the ball.
However knowing and executing are two different animals also.
