I am not upset because it's Kennesaw, but because of the Mutt heading it's creation. Apparently this came to fruition back in December and I could not find anything her on ST about it. Here is a somewhat recent AJC article about it.

I had also heard rumors that KSU was going to become a UGAy campus within the next few years. Can anyone verify this rumor?

I don't get it. Georgia State hired Bill Curry as their head coach...if that makes you feel any better.

:blahblah:

KSU will be successful. They have more students than Tech and a large, local alumni base. If you are implying they will change the name to UGA-Kennesaw, I don't see that happening.

Bill Curry might not have been the best coach in the world, but he was loyal to his alma mater, and he's not a mutt. And I guess what happens at KSU affects me a little more than Georgia State as I live 10 minutes away and my wife is an alum there.

Loyal right up until he left for a "better" job.

Both KSU and GSU football programs in the vicinity of Tech are not good news for Tech, but we don't have much to worry about, because of the way college football scene is shaping up (more and more difference between BCS and others) and the way our program has picked up with CPJ.

KSU is not becoming a ugag campus because as far as I know they have the same or very similar degrees. On the other hand, a technical school like spsu might be a more reasonable extension of ugag.

We are getting a little off topic but here is a good Technique article on Curry.

I didn't say I didn't think he was a class act. But describing him as "loyal to his Alma mater" may have been stretching the truth a bit.

Yeah, I don't really see them becoming a power house or anything. I just don't want to see a bunch of Ugaggers getting involved and becoming a bad influence over a University with a great reputation.

Do you have any proof that this is the case? I have heard from ALOT of people that this is going to happen and I am not sure where it started.

I doubt KSU or Georgia State will ever hurt Tech.

To put it bluntly, Georgia Tech has trouble selling out a stadium against BCS competition.

What makes anyone think State or Kennesaw is going to be overly successful at it?

They both have more students, and both have more "mainstream" student cultures(aka, they like sports).

Boy people forget history. Bill Curry dumped tech like a bad habit for Alabama, chastised the whole tech community and was hated for years for that. Time does heal, but to say he was loyal to tech is BS. He is a class act, loves GT, and to this day feels bad for that move, but he also has had to make amends for decades for that leave.

2013 seems very optimistic. No decision has even been made yet, they are only "exploring" the options. Alot of money would still have to be raised to double the size of the newly built soccer stadium, fund a football program in general, and add 3 or 4 women's sports teams to meet Title IX regulations.

There are tee shirts that say, "KSU Football, still undefeated!" I think those shirts will be selling for a few more years.

KSU is late to the party. The school has one of their best years in basketball and now they decide to have a football team, well maybe the sole purpose but still.

KSU literally has nothing to offer to recruits. Especially if they become a part of UGAy.
