Know the Foe: Georgia Tech

The first game of football in 2015 was a 69-6 victory. Folks on this board were anything but convinced we had regressed. Check out this thread about an ESPN recap noting that the victory confirmed our status as 2015 playoff dark horses.

Oh crap. Week 2 was Notre Dame. My bad

I was feeling optimistic about this game when I heard how much talent they lost, but now it turns out they have a 5star QB that started out at Alabama, a Florida RB transfer, and a standout 240 lb WR. Either they are really able to reload, or their offense is the college football Island of Misfit Toys.

It’s never as good or as bad as it seems.

We need to see a resurgence of big play clinton lynch. These guys expect us to grind it out. If we are grinding out then this may be a long day. Mix a couple big plays in and we'll break their souls.

The "I couldn't stand to watch this offense every week" folks came out early in that thread. To be fair, it's been pretty tedious to watch for the last few years when we haven't been hitting on all cylinders, but this offense rewrote the GT record books for long plays (passing and rushing), yards, points, etc. in its first few years here. It was a hell of a lot more exciting to watch than FSU going backward on every down last night, or some dink-and-dunk screen-based passing offense.

The more entertaining thread is the "Visiting Georgia Tech Message Boards" one.

Seems like a lot of the "G5" schools (or whatever it's called - I never think about or use the "P5/G5" terminology) have this weird inferiority complex. Like GT is in any sort of position to "keep them down" or whatever? We can't even get respect from our own conference to not put us at every competitive disadvantage (in terms of scheduling, etc.) that they can pull off, yet GT is somehow part of some major conference Illuminati?

If I'm USF, I sell out to stop the run and force TQ to beat us thru the air. It's about the only chance they have of winning.

Conversely, if I'm CPJ, it's B-Back City until they can stop it. Run the goddamn thing 90 times if needed.

Its called 'identity politics.' It's all the rage in America right now.

Did I ever tell you that you're one of my favorite posters?

Understatement of the year-

"GT is a much more talented team than Elon and much faster"

Geez, where did you get this hot take from? Was it when we beat them 70-0?
