KSU movin on up to FBS

Wasn't Vince Dooley involved in endorsing the KSU athletics program? The same guy that used illiterate students to play on his football teams?
Yes he was. KSU brought him onboard because the mutt BOR loved them some Dooley ..woof woof ...helped grease the axles

As a SPSU alum, I received the very last degree from SPSU in August of 2015 graduating cum laude with a degree in civil engineering. I co-oped through school and got a job that I still have today 3 months before I even graduated. I got into Tech as a transient student and could have gone there after my freshman year. My whole life I always wanted to go to Tech. My dad who graduated from Tech in 1977 encouraged me that SPSU was probably a better place to be and I think we was right.

SPSU was putting out hands on engineers from Georgia to stay and work in Georgia. That was their goal. Tech has shifted its focus into being an international research institution. Focusing on students outside of Georgia and pushing them out into the world. During this time the BOR was on a financial merger sweep across the state. I was there when all of this happened. Uga had started its own engineering program with the same focus as SPSUs to take students from Georgia to work as engineers in Georgia. The SPSU KSU merger was done by the Uga and GT led BOR to bluster Uga's engineering program. I had professors leave for Uga. SPSU was the fastest growing university in the state with the 4th highest SAT scores in the state behind GT, Uga, adn Georgia College. Southern Poly was thriving.

I was there for the open forums with SPSU President Rossbacher (who was great) and KSU President Papp. I was there through all of this. The merger was done very poorly and the ones who suffered were the students and lower level employees. I had friends who were had scholarships to play on the SPSU soccer team have there scholarships removed because they were freshman or sophomores. (they only let the junior and senior athletes keep their scholarships) BTW SPSU sports teams were very good for in NAIA with hopes to move up to DII. While the merger made since in some areas it due to the proximity, it made not since in terms of the type of students who attended the two schools.

Southern Tech was also started due to the need for more technical hands on engineers in the state of Georgia. Southern Tech was started with "Engineering Technology" degrees which is different more hands on degree than a traditional theory based "Engineering" degree. Over time SPSU incorporated traditional engineering degrees to meet the need for more PEs in the state since you only need 4 years of experience after graduation with an engineering degree instated of 7 with an engineering technology degree to get your PE.

I had lots of friends who went to SPSU and my wife went there. I was not happy about the merger at all due to the nature of how different the two schools were. The merger definitely helped KSU start their football program with the extra enrollment money. Southern Poly was ran 100 time better than KSU. I am proud to be a SPSU alumnus and I have no regrets not transferring to Tech. But I've been a Tech fan my whole life and it shouldn't matter were you went to school to be a fan. Some of y'all are bickering about what actually happened but the truth is that is over now and it doesn't matter how or why it happened but who did it hurt the most. I now have degree from a school that no longer exist but SPSU still has a great reputation in the professional world at putting our great engineers with real world knowledge who are ready to work day 1. My worry is that 30 years down the road that reputation will be forgotten.

Congrats to KSU. Bigger money, to be found. I wished them the best. Just not when / if they play us.

Unless, as I hope, the BOR changes for the better and realizes that the liberal arts/teachers school of KSU does not align with the engineering for us of SPSU. I am an old SPSU grad and loved the place. The merger was railroaded through with any tough questions being glossed over. I hated it for the students enrolled at SPSU at the time. I didn't want SPSU to combine with any other school because we were growing. Should have bought Life's campus, but the BOR really wanted to do nothing for SPSU.

As far as Papp goes, the man should have been investigated and perhaps a case presented to the grand jury. He was knee to deep in a retirement pension fraud and oversaw the fraud taking place in KSU's food services. When he was "allowed" to retire, it was good ol boys at work. He made a statement about he hoped that future administrations would learn from the mistakes that were made. Mistakes? You're a ööööing thief and are being allowed to get away with it.

And also, KSU administration and colleges are ööööing inept, my mom said it was night and day. The failure to properly secure the election data was most glaring and inept.

Anyway, they beg me for money now. Not happening.

They will have to drop the option. The new cut block rule is really hurting FCS 3O teams. KSU, Wofford, and the Citadel are all struggling.

plus the better teams continue to just beat it more often than not. Samford and Jax St are powerhouses.

Almost all of the USG mergers done in the last decade were dumb and politically motivated. Guaranteed administration budgets at almost all of these places are bloated to pre merger levels and students are worse off for having institutions that are less focused.

SPSU refugees, repeat after me:

I renounce any association with the defunct university, SPSU. I am happy that it is gone. I totally and unequivocally denounce KSU moving to FBS. It is a mistake. Georgia Tech is the only engineering school that should exist in the state of Georgia. I only cheer for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Saturday. So help me God.

How bout you repeat after me:

I am gonna eat a sack lunch off JJACKET'S taint.

Although, I in no way financially support Kennesaw State University

I went to SPSU and financially supported the university until the merger, when I pulled my annual gift. My mother worked as the receptionist to the CS department for about two decades and retired a few years after the merger. If it makes you feel better to make öööö up about the merger then I hope it helps you sleep well. I do know you are either misremembering something, were told a falsehood, or are just plain lying. Pick one.
Guess I may be older on here graduated from Southern Tech than most on here but when I was there it was part of GT

KSU lost badly to a Geoff Collins coached football team. I think they’re ready.
