Labor Day Football

Boise St 51, VPI 31

The Chokies have no chance and Boise will play for the national championship. It history all over again.

I like to pull for the ACC but after the way beamer
tried to turn the ACC officials against us I just
can't pull for VT. I really think their failure is good
for GT.
So to hell with VT.

How is that? I agree that they're dicks, but their success can only make us look better.

The reason I say that is because beamer is not
happy trying to beat us in recruiting and on the
field. He wants to manipulate the league office
to get an advantage.

If this is the way he wants to compete then we
are better off if Miami or someone else is our
main rival to winning the ACC. Someone who is
happy leaving it on the field.

If VT drops to mid tier in the conference then
beamer's manipulative ways are less of a
danger to a more deserving team losing a
shot at a championship because he has
poisoned the well.

Fridge is a great offensive mind.
Too bad he's not a recruiter and program face.

After he gets canned this year..... I see him going to an Iowa or Nebraska and being the difference in making a Top 20 team a Top 5 team.

I wish him the best of luck, his accomplishments at GT brought me much joy!

I think VT is going to line up in the I and ram the ball down Boise's throats. I see them pulling away in the second half. Boise will score, but they don't have the horses on the DL to stop VT's running game.
Maryland will lose to Navy. Not really much else to say about that one.

The reason I think so is that I don't think VPI is going to get too much better than they currently are. If people think VPI is the best in the ACC, then the ACC will keep getting **** when VPI fails to go further.

Also, if VPI wins today the Only thing that will be discussed is VPI's chances of getting to play for a national title. It will be talked about how the ACC needed the win, but if we go on and beat VPI later all that will have happened is the media will discuss how the ACC will not have a team in the National Title game.

Plus...they are dicks.

Or....

VPISU could lose, which would cause ESPN to say that the ACC is still yet another year away from having a national contender, and then we'd be downplayed all year. Plus, it'll hurt our strength of schedule even more, thanks to Kansas and UNC.

As much as I hate, hate, hate VPISU with every ounce of my body, I'd rather have them win instead of dealing with people downplaying the ACC this year again.

She's right; you know that?

Oh and Maryland will totally shut down Navy and that high-school offense that they run...
.

.
.....

Something I find stupid about the Navy-UMD game is that it is not being broadcast on AFN. I feel that all of the games involving the service academies should be broadcast on AFN especially over stupid golf.

But it's Tiger Tiger Woods y'all! Tiger's round of golf would trump a presidential address for AFN air time.

Just watched a high school game on ESPN. A team from Florida (Dwyer) was playing a team from Ohio (Glennville) and it looked like the Florida team scored on 3 different plays but the refs called a receiver out of bounds (replay showed he wasn't) and two QB sneaks where it looked like he broke the plane easily on the last play of the game. Real screw job. I assume they were local (Ohio) cause the game was in Ohio State's stadium.

I saw that too. That was really disappointing, especially the second to last play when the quarterback was holding the ball over the freaking goal line and the refs were staring at him for a good bit, not doing anything. And then the defenders push him back and the refs call the play. That was completely BS

What I'm arguing is that whenever VPI loses they will say the same thing your describing. Even if their first loss is to us. If VPI wins we will still be downplayed and VPI will be hyped.

I would also ask, what does our strength of schedule matter this year? Not being a duche, just wondering.

Re: the high school game, that was the worst call I have ever seen, esp in terms of costing a team a game. Like the announcers said, the entire pile was in the endzone. He broke the plane by three lengths of the football.

So, if I have this correct, you think Georgia Tech will get downplayed either way? I have no idea why we would get downplayed just because VPISU beats Boise St.

As for strength of schedule, it helps with the BCS formula at the end. If we're in the top ten at the end of the year, that'll get more national recognition for us. That's the only reason I could think of, and whether it's significant or not is up to you guys.

The BCS rankings include several computer rankings which incorporate strength of schedule. Also, if VPI beats Boise, they will likely be in the Top 5 when we beat them, especially if Miami beats tOSU.
