What is "many?" There are at least a dozen jobs better than Auburn. There are probably five in the SEC alone . . . Bama, ugag, LSU, UF and TA&M. Texas, Oklahoma, tOSU. Michigan. USC(w). ND. Oregon. Penn State. Clemson (?). Tennessee (?). FSU (?).

People said the same thing about the Tennessee job and turns out you can win there still with the right coach. Of course Tennessee has the advantage of being the flagship school in their state with no other state competition (all due resect to vandy).

Auburn has won a National Championship in the BCS-era and beyond. That is something that cannot be said by Michigan, Penn State, Notre Dame, Oregon, many more (thought about including Va Tech. But nah...). Auburn has money and a rabid fan base and the right coach can succeed there. I've always had a closet fandom for Auburn if for no reason than they are close to Atlanta and a threat to uga's domination of the state's fan base when we are otherwise in the basement. And I hate alabubba, so another reason to like the barners.
