Defensive linemen are not supposed to be bigger than OL. That hasn't been the case for us since Shaq left. We were so outmatched in size and strength along the OL of scrimmage diving at DL feet was the only chance we had.

I was more speaking to the fact that if 60-70% of your weight is on your hands in a down stance that you're going to see a lot of linemen flopping on the ground even if that isn't their assignment. That's not a stable base.

That’s the way you set up in blocks to run track. It’s obviously not how you set up to pass block.

Our OL up the middle has been as big or bigger than most of our opponents.

I'm not doubting you, but I would like to know where you heard that. While I know that I never liked the way our line performed a lot of the time, but the coaches handcuffing the linemen by forcing them to put that much weight on their hands makes me want to kick myself in the head.

That's called trying to piece together a team that was built around an offense that is run by high schools and military academies.
I doubt seriously you will be saying that the next 2-3 seasons--- and you certainly won't be saying that about midway through the 2nd quarter of the Clemson and Georgia games this fall.
But CGC is going to recruit some BIG TIME P5 players that "can go toe-to-toe" with the guys at Clemson, as Stansbury says. Then it will be great to be a Fuzzy Bee.

Did you see our backup QB try to pass last season and fall down first? I’m not surprised he is moving, personally.

FWIW, Oliver is getting good reviews throwing this spring. Definitely in the mix to start game 1. I think it's Yate's job by mid-season, personally.

Can’t believe you never saw this anywhere. In the TO linemen set up with their weight forward to facilitate firing out on the snap. Some teams play with a 4 point stance. Fuentes from VT mentions it in his post game comments after we beat them last year. He was asked why more teams don’t run the offense and he said “you can’t pass block from that stance”, which we can all attest to.
 
But will it result in more Ws?

It bothers me how all these articles about the way the new regime are doing things inevitably always imply this new way is clearly the right way and superior to CPJ's way. We will see. I am enthusiastic and excited about the team, just like every season, but I feel like all these implications of, "thank God we're doing things this way now, this is so much better than the old way" are extremely premature. And I'm not even really talking about the scheme, moreso just all these pieces on how CGC runs his program, recruits, and runs practices.

True. Different is not better and it does get annoying hearing as if we were some cellar dwellers of the ACC.

We can only judge what’s going on now, so i disagree with you that’s its too premature to say something is better. At no point in recruiting in the past 11yrs, i believe we’ve been in the top 25 at any point. Also, hearing recruits, who have been on campus prior and coming back, saying “The environment is better! All the coaches are interacting with us instead of just passing by without speaking”. Recruiting is the lifeblood of a program. The “school doesn’t recruit itself.” So to see the early commits we have with factory level offers in the spring is way ahead of schedule for us.

The branding and transparency of the program is a 1000x better. You actually see the gains being made in the offseason and why there is a buzz around the program. We’re are not just more welcoming to recruits and former players, we are now more welcoming to the casual fan and the rest of the CFB.
