Mack Brown to UNC

Looks like he was at UNC from '88 until '97, and over that span, we went 3-6-1 against them. Wins in '89, '91, and '95, tie in '90 (obviously). I seem to recall that we had a pretty good drought at Chapel Hill during that time frame until Joe Hamilton finally broke it.

He was 69–46–1 (0.600) at UNC, and 244–122–1 (0.667) at Texas. By comparison, Fedora was 0.560 at UNC, which is better than all the dudes (Torbush, Bunting, Davis) between him and Brown.

Hopefully the game has passed him by (he's been out of coaching since 2013) and he won't be able to make UNC into a respectable team again.

I think it is a good settling down move for UNC. Get him and a staff in there. Run 5-6 years of an organized program. Place his successor on the staff as head coach in waiting. Pay everyone the way Clemson would. Build stuff like Clemson has with all that UNC money.

This is not good for GT

He left Texas in a big mess.

He can obviously do well, but not a given. Let's see who the coordinators are. Chan Gailey is available right?

Interesting that Miles and Brown get jobs while the up and comers are still waiting by the phone.

I have no idea how this will work out, but it sounds like they are going to put together a pretty expensive staff, in addition to buying out Fedora. Unc is joining the arms race.
