Mack Brown to UNC

Mack Brown is 67, the same age as Saban, but he will be the oldest head coach in the ACC. The issue that comes to mind is not that he is too old, but it seems like a short-term hire. Connecting with young athletes for recruiting purposes these days would be a real challenge at 70, unless he surrounds himself with younger assistants who will fill that void.
Maybe he has a celebratory dance routine like Dabo.

I think Mack Brown will give unify UNC, generate excitement, and bring fans back to their stadium. With his reputation and top of the line assistants, recruiting will pick up, too. On the field, it will not be hard for him to show a vast improvement in the Hells' win-loss record. Given the current apathetic state of their fan base, I think this is a great hire. Plus, I can see him coaching for six to eight years, which is longer than most coaches last at any school. Given the weakness of our Division, I can see him getting into two or three ACC Championship Games. UNC football is like Tech basketball, a great thing waiting to happen. This might not be good for Tech, but it's good for the ACC, particularly going into the debut of the ACC network. With Cutcliff doing what he did for Duke by just bringing competence to the Blue Devils, don't underestimate what Brown can do by just bringing competence back to Chapel Hill.

This is possible, but it's way more likely that this is a hot fart of a coaching hire and the Coastal will use UNC as a punching bag for the next three years.

I guess They have short memories when it comes to getting rid of Fedora. My dad grew up in charlotte so liked UNC. Still talks about how Mack told boosters that he was staying and then packed up for Texas the next day.

Kind of like like us hiring back D-Rad 10 years after Clemson fell apart and fired him. Just strange.

I’m sure Mack Brown will do great things at UNC with 70 million bucks less to spend on recruiting, etc.. (compared to Texas)

Funniest news I heard all week.
