Mark Bradley gets one right

I think it's fascinating that some people think it's precisely because we can't get great recruits that we need to use the triple option, and other think that its because we use the triple option that we can't get great recruits.

I do remember enough about GT history to know we've never gotten great recruits – like dating back to before WW2. Coach Alec complained about it, Coach Dodd complained about it, it was one of the reasons we left the SEC 50 years ago. That doesn't mean it can't get better, and maybe the triple option is a deadweight. But if recruiting is the problem, we (and by we I mean posters on ST) sure need to stop being condescending about dumb athletes and waterslides.

I for one welcome any and all academic changes needed to make GT more competitive in football. It's a very small tail that will never wag an enormously large dog.
I doubt the hill even knew there was a game today.

When are we gonna get over the illusion that we are in the same class as the UGAs or Clemsons or even half the SEC teams? Until we get the 4 & 5 stars, we can continue to expect to get trounced by these afore mentioned teams. I've bought into the CPJ offense, but it's time to try someone else.

Sorry, but Wut?

CPJ has “led” us to not being in the same class as puke.

Not only is your last statement correct, but CPJ should Never have been hired to start with.

After all, NONE of our players had been recruited to run the TO.

The right coach makes the rest of the pieces fall into place regardless of whether GT decides to do it now or at CPJ’s pace
My happiest time as a Tech fan was with the Friedgen offense. It was fun to watch, we scored a lot of points, and I don’t recall it costing us on recruits. It also allowed position players to develop into stars and household names.

We must of not had the right coach since I’ve been alive. One fantastic season in 1990. Ask Bobby Ross what he thought about recruiting at Georgia Tech. Read his book sometime.

Half of sec teams? Stfu
Alabama
UGA
Auburn
LSU
Texas A&M
Florida

Those are a given. Kentucky is now in the top 15 in the country so add them to the list and Mississippi State would be a challenge for us as well. Ole Miss and Tennessee we might be able to handle. But yeah...looks like about half of the SEC is out of our league right now.

+1

That offense was an attraction to recruits because we ran a lot of pro-style 3 WR K-gun type sets, but we also had some option principles sprinkled in that opposing teams had to spend lots of time preparing for. That team could beat you through the air, through a conventional ground game, and with the option, too. If you held a gun to my head and asked me what to replace the 3O with (because whenever Stansbury has to pick a new coach in the future, I can't imagine him choosing the 3O as the hill he wants to die on), something like Friedgen's system is exactly what I want to see.

I loved it. I like having option principles. I also like having the option to pass when the run game is shit like it was Saturday. I just don’t want to run as much option as we are now.

Have you seen the system the Chicago Bears run this year?

This is precisely opposite of what actually happens. All of the pieces need to be in place before a good coach can glue them all together. See:

Nick Saban
Chip Kelly
Urban Meyer
Dabo Swinney
Kirby Smart
Gus Mahlzan
Jimbo Fisher

None of these guys are building programs from the ground up. Hell, the very last guy left a place where NCs are very attainable simply because another program spent more money on the pieces needed to build a NC-winning team.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - Paul Johnson is not the root of Georgia Tech's problems, and he solves more problems than he creates. I have no doubts there are coaches that can do a better job than CPJ, but they are few in number and I don't think anyone on this board (and, unfortunately, in our AA) knows who they are. There will be a wide range of opinions on the risk/reward of making a coaching change.

However, anyone that thinks that all of our problems are fixed with a new coach are kidding themselves. The next head coach is going to struggle to match CPJ's record, and will not exceed CPJ's greatest accomplishments.

Until Tech offers degrees in lawn watering or sports engineering or getting blown by hot coeds, we won’t our recruit UGA or Clemson. And we’re not gonna put those on curriculum until the BoR approves it. And the BoR has shown zero inclination to expand Tech’s offerings, probably because they’re a bunch of cocksucking mutts themselves.

Our best option is to get about $4 Billion and go private. The next best option is to hire a coach who runs a team built around 2 and 3 star recruits and coaching them up using gimmicks and trickery.

Half? WTH!

Maybe Arkansas or ole miss and that is it.

The BoR will not alter our curriculum until WE MAKE A REQUEST to do so.

The scumbags on The Hill will not do it and too many snowflake GT grads are constantly bedwetting about their degree being devalued.

Do you have an example of Bud doing his ( or more specifically not doing it)

I just spent an hours r looking through a few years of BoR minutes and I see no examples of them turning anything down for any Georgia school, which means either I’m wrong. Or the Academic Commitee only votes on things that they’ve already wheeled and dealed on.

He’s a troll. Of course, he doesn’t.

This is correct.
