I’m beginning to think that Matt Rhule is just as idiotic as Collins, with the only difference being he has a better agent extolling his virtues. His embracing of Sims shows like Collins he is not a good judge of what it takes to be a successful college player. Now it is revealed that Ark Gilbert has been arrested a second time for burglary of a liquor store. This time in Lumpkin County Georgia.
Instead of saying nothing or pretending he is no longer on the team, Rhule makes a strange statement about being sorry about the situation and “moving forward”. Add in Nebraska’s problems on the field and I must say that I’m not impressed.

When will folks realize that coaches who catch lightning in a bottle at one stop can't necessarily catch it at the next. So much about each place they coach is so different: culture, support, environment, players, coaches, fans, etc. On and on. You cannot replicate all that from one place at the next. In some cases, Saban at LSU and Bama, Spurrier at Dook, UF, and USCe, Goerge O'Leary at GA Tech and UCF, for example, have done it in differing circumstances. To me, that is the real hallmark of a great football coach - how well you can replicate success in widely varying environments. Maybe Rhule is one, maybe not. It's too early.

Just my $.02 worth.

It is his first freaking season, JFC, you guys are insufferable comparing every other coach to your ex.

Rhule is a good coach that has turned around two terrible programs; no reason to think he won’t win at Nebraska where he has significantly more resources.

Rhule has done it at multiple locations already so maybe you need a history lesson.
Here’s a history lesson. 11-27 in 2 plus years with the Carolina Panthers. You say 2 plus years was not enough time, for some reason the Panthers saw something they didn’t like.

He was a terrible NFL HC. So were Spurrier and Meyers. Those have nothing to do with college coaching.

As for Rhule, he brought in Sims who is apparently a very good practice player. I would imagine the no contact jersey helps. Sims is an odd fit though because Rhule has preached toughness at Temple and Baylor.

If Rhule follows his pattern, this year will suck, next year will be middle of the road, and year three will show results. Who knows if that will happen? NIL has changed everything.

One of the problems facing Rhule is that Nebraska wasn’t a total dumpster when he got there a lot of really close losses. That can lead to people feeling unfairly castigated as losers when they feel they were just unlucky.

This brings up the question of what causes a lot of close losses? Is it lack of character, lack of confidence or just a lot of bad luck.

Stop doing that to yourself
People like to think we weren't, but we were excited about that hire. Had been a DC at UGAg and just went 11-1 at East Carolina. It was actually perfect timing to win this state from the mutts.
