Matt Rhule

Nebraska has done it well in the past so it’s not impossible to succeed there. The fans certainly support that program no matter how lousy the coach and team might happen to be.
No doubt about their fan support, but not like there's anything else to do there. They had Pellini who knocked it out the park there and they ran him out of town. Not sure what they expect.

He was a terrible NFL HC. So were Spurrier and Meyers. Those have nothing to do with college coaching.

As for Rhule, he brought in Sims who is apparently a very good practice player. I would imagine the no contact jersey helps. Sims is an odd fit though because Rhule has preached toughness at Temple and Baylor.

If Rhule follows his pattern, this year will suck, next year will be middle of the road, and year three will show results. Who knows if that will happen? NIL has changed everything.
The way the rules are in football today versus even 2 years ago just supports the pussification factor across the board. These guys playing the game now are 'soft' relatively speaking. Some guys are more suited for non-contact football, so when the lights come on the pretenders disappear.

I think eventually it becomes a thing and it’s difficult for the team to overcome the immense pressure of “winning a close game” while their opponents start playing looser knowing their opponent “always loses” these types of games. So a mixture of everything but eventually it becomes a cultural thing for a team and its opponents.
See the Atlanta Braves.
