Matthew Jordan

Reggie was a tougher runner up the middle if that is what you mean. The pass attempts would have looked similar to TM; the QB keeper would have looked better; I don't know what the reads and pitches would have looked like. I suspect RB would have been our second leading rusher behind Benson last night.

The sad thing is Marshall was only two yards away from being our second leading rusher last night. And if you take away the sacks, he was.

Even CPJ said in the post game presser that we never got into our rythm until MJ went in and settled things down, and even TM started playing better after thatw. He also said he should have gotten MJ into the game in the first half.

Was MJ making reads on those plays? For some reason I thought they were designed runs.

Anyway, Marshall had a terrible game. No doubt about it. But I wouldn't go benching him just yet. He's shown what he can do before in multiple games, and it's fantastic. At 4-3 (0-2), most of our goals this season our gone -- I want to see Marshall keep playing and learning the offense as a starter so he can ball out next season. If he has another one or two like this, then fine, switch to MJ, but be prepared for the fact that he very well may get beaten out again in the spring and we'll be starting another QB with no experience.

The solution to Marshall's tentativeness may just be playing more. Don't forget, this is only his seventh start.

MJ beat VT in his first start. What has TM done?

Marshall was afraid to pitch. End of story. JT5 was often overconfident of his pitches, and they usually worked out. Marshall has a mental block on pitching. The first indication was the 2 point conversion against UT. UGAg and VT will exploit his timidity. He can't throw long. Expect an all out assault on our run game against those two teams. We have not shown we can throw the quick back shoulder pass that JT5 was so good at throwing.

We likely would have lost to Clemson last night anyway just due to physical superiority at every position when their defense lined up against our offense. However, we should have still made better reads. We left yards on the field. Maybe not points, but yards. If we have just a few drives and first downs, we perhaps get Clemson a bit beat up and maybe we can think of something late

I don't think it is a mental block, I think it is his first season running the offense. Also last night Clemson was a fraction (sometimes more) quicker on defense and I think that intimidated TM a little; but it is something he should overcome with time. VT won't be as dominating; so it will be a good test. He should be improved before we play UGA, we'll just have to see if he has improved enough.

The passing game is a bigger concern that I don't expect to get fixed this season. We play like we have only one receiver, he is a very good one; but we have got to find a way to get the ball to other targets.

I agree with your second paragraph.

The a-backs used to be such an integral part of the passing game, but outside of the occasional ball to Searcy, it seems like that's gone away with Marshall at the helm. Clinton Lynch was one of our main receiving threats last year. Has he even been targeted this year?

Good point. Now that I think about it MJ may not have been reading at all.

And I’m not in favor of changing qbs either

MJ beat VT in his first start. What has TM done?

-Took Champions of Life to Double OT
-Beat top 5 team of Alabama
-Intimidated top 20 UCF into forfeit
-Beat team from City of Champions
-Beat Michael Jordan
-Provided Emotional support to Miami after tough hurricane season
-Averaged a 50-6 beatdown of an ACC Atlantic Contender for one half of football

Won the 4th quarter against top 5 Clemson

Are you book keeping VT as a loss? I'm not. Unless we just come out and beat ourselves mentally, I look for it to be winnable match up.

I said what has he done so far. TM is a talented, fast kid, reminds me of JT a little bit before JT started passing better. But he gets rattled in high pressure situations and is too little to take a beating up the middle.

I think MJs inside threat helps a lot against the rain.

I don't want tm benched permanently, be he had trouble getting settled and made a lot of bad dive and pitch reads. MJ needed to go in earlier than he did just to give TM a minute to settle down and regain composure.

Nesbitt got pulled for Jaybo against UNC in 08. JT got pulled against duke in 14. QBs have a bad game, it happens.

A couple weeks ago people on this board were talking about how its a shame we only get one more year with Taquon. One bad game doesn't change the talent we've seem from him.

The biggest gripe I've had with TM all year is he thinks he has 4.3 speed when he really has 4.7 speed. He often runs backwards and makes a bad play into a drive killer. I also think he makes way too many misreads, and misses the early pitch, especially. Look how much our AB touches are down this year. We have home run hitters at AB (other than Cottrell, why is that guy in the rotation?), so give them a chance to make plays. All of my gripes really show up against the most talented teams where TM really gets tunnel vision on his reads.

I agree with everything except your first sentence. TM has like 5 long touchdown runs this year, some of which he pretty clearly outran defenders. Justin Thomas DID have 4.3 speed and he didn't finish long runs like TM has.

He was horrible yesterday, but he's been really good as a runner for most of the season. TBH, I'm much more concerned about his passing ability.

did yall miss the part where we were playing in a monsoon? pitches, etc are totally out of the question

Yall acting like we never played in the rain or it was only us playing in the rain. STFU about the goddamn rain. Dumbest excuse i've ever seen.
