--well that didn't last long. He never should have left Florida. EGO will get you every time.

Well I guess there is hope.... We fire Geoff Collins after next year and Urban is ready to get back in the saddle.... The problem is we are pretty cheap as a program I think that unless Urban takes 3-4 Million per year we will not be in play...Thus we should have cleaned house this year... Our AD is a moron.

Biggest loser in this is not Meyer, who walks away with a ton of cash and is already financially fixed for life.

It's not Shad Khan, or even Jags fans.

It's Josh Lambo. I doubt he'll ever catch on with another team after this. No one likes a snitch.

I understand--but if Meyer had kicked ME I think I know what i would have done. Yes, i know what the repercussions might have been, but still---?- and his telling about it may have been part of the team wanting to get rid of Meyer and piling on him seems to have helped. (PS--if you ever want to piss an obnoxious gagger off just holler SPURRIER at him, works every time)-LOL.

It’s got to be pretty hard to deal with the egos of modern professional athletes. I don’t know what skill set would be required for it. Winning seems to help a lot.

What would you have done?

I just read Josh's account and that is some millennial snowflake öööö right there. Coaches used to grab players by the facemask and practically rip their head off. Are you a millennial perchance?

77 years old, so NO. I realize how "old school" coaches "coached". I experienced several years of it and did not feel abused at all. Different times now as i assume you realize. I'm sorry but KICKING someone kinda crosses the line that's not "coaching" that is abuse and very personal. What would I have done--KICK HIS ASS BACK! Sorry if you are too timid to agree. Back in my day this would have led to a pretty good fight.

The old boomer öööö where you guys loved hot-headed coaches is so played out. Smart, self-motivated people respond 1000x better to cool and collected leaders than redneck hotheads

The difference between the hot headed coach that slaps your helmet with a whistle and kicking a professional place kicker is a career and millions of dollars. Don’t screw with a man’s livelihood just because you can be a dick. The pros are different than college. Pros being the primary word

I think NFL teams are going to be even more leery than before about hiring college coaches, especially ones with no prior NFL experience of any kind. It seems to be too big of a culture shock for a lot of these guys when they realize they're not going to be able to rule over their players with an iron fist nor will they be able to accumulate significantly more talent than 90% of their opponents.

True. Collins is proof positive that you only need the carrot never the stick.

While we are on that subject, parents who abandoned the stick and only use the carrot have led to so much better children. Its amazing how we only figure that out now and were so wrong about the carrot AND stick method for literally all of human history.

There's still a place for coaches who are hard-asses, but none of the things that have come out about Meyer seem pedagogically effective. It's just him being a dick for the sake of being a dick.

I would have given anything to play for a John Heisman, or a Bobby Knight, or a Vince Lombardi. They were pretty tough coaches.

Football is a sport for tough guys that should be able to handle tough coaches that demand the best out of their players. I am not saying go around and kick players and öööö, but hitting them upside the helmet or forcefully showing how to block is nothing too hard on the guys. Plus, some players need things drilled through their skulls from time to time.

We all see how our friendship coach does in our backyard on Grant Field every Saturday in the fall. I'm not really feeling it.

But I can see your point.

Agreed. Apparently some people want to argue you gotta be Coach Mr Rogers or you are a neanderthal. CPJ and a ööööload of others (and a lot of employees we have worked with IRL) have showed you can be a dickhead and get away with it if you win, but that'll come back to bite you if you aren't clearly valuable.

I do want to add this kicker öööö seems so nothingburger I can't believe the "I woulda kicked his ass and in doing so would have walked away from the NFL" because nobody would hire a kicker that assaults a coach, even if provoked to. Which also makes me think of the Bill Burr bit about Rihanna and Chris Brown in the elevator where he points out that its unlikely Chris just snapped out of nowhere. I have a strong feeling this kicker is a real piece of work and that while you shouldn't kick anyone anytime, I can't help think this wasnt an out-of-the-blue incident.
