Miami vs. Georgia Tech (Nov 9, 2024) Honoring the 2014 Capital One Orange Bowl Team

That offense was nearly unstoppable.

2014 GT-UGA is probably one of the greatest games ever with the momentum shifts and crazy stuff that happened.

Brandon Gaudin and Sean Bedford did a great job.

I feel really lucky to have been a student during 2014.
That was Brandon and Roddy Jones.
Can't forget Roddy's "WOO HOO HOO!" on D.J. White's pick to seal it.

One of them tweeted out a pic later of them spelling THWG in duct tape on their broadcast seats after the game. IIRC.

Dramatic and one of the greatest games ever due to one stupid officiating non-call. Great win but it still aggravates me just thinking about that.

Ahh ok it’s tough to remember sometimes. I remember staying up in my dorm room all night listening to the radio broadcast again while playing FF XIV

We were there. Our box was close to that goal line. I couldn't tell if the kick was good but when I saw the ball boys go crazy, I thought, holy öööö, he made it.
on DJ's pick, I was watching Quayshawn Nealy. And I saw him jogging toward the sideline. I thought, WTF is he doing? Then, the Tech sideline just exploded. I couldn't tell for a second that DJ had picked it off.
And then we went nuts. Surrounded by big money Dwag fans, who sat there glumly, who couldn't believe after all those calls went their way (JT at the goal line and Ray Drew blowing up our center to block two kicks, which was illegal) that they lost, we went apeshit. Goddamn it's a lot of fun to look across that sea of red and hear not a goddamn peep out of it.
Of the Tech wins over Georgia I've seen in person, I'll take 08 as No. 1 and 14 as No. 2. 16 wasn't bad, either. (I had a job to do in 98 on that day and I was out of state in 99).

You were lucky - what a great year to be a student - Was the stupid Duke game the weather game?

I'll never forget that game. A rare occasion where the bar in NYC was packed and drinks went absolutely flying when the pick happened.

One? What were you smoking that day? If not for the "fumble" and that dwag Ray Drew running thru our long snapper TWICE to block a FG and XP, we would've run them out of their own stadium that day.

Maybe so. I was sitting in that end zone during that fake fumble and I couldn't believe it. A 14 point swing with one bad call. And somehow we still overcame it.

Hey I was there too. It was my last season as a student. I was in the marching band and got to go to VT, u[sic]ga, F$U, and the Orange Bowl!

JT got hurt and Tech had a lot of calls go against them. I can’t remember Bobby Dodd yelling so much at the refs since then

Video really shows how big/physical we were on offerse. BBs ABs and WRs all had great speed and size. Probably PJs biggest OL too with Shaq Shamire and others

Shamire played but didn't start as a redshirt freshman in 14.
But we had Shaq, plus Freddie Burden was 300 plus at center, along with Errin Joe, Bryan Chamberlain, Trey Braun (before he got into distance running) and Chris Griffin, when he was healthy, at left tackle.
Chamberlain-Braun-Burden-Mason-Griffin/Joe, from left to right tackle, was our typical starting OL that year. They weren't 6-1, 260.

That’s right; burden and Mason were a bad ass combo inside. That offense was bigger, on average, across the board than most PJ had (other than the QB).
