Mike Leach

While I like Leach's schtick as much as the next guy, it always struck me as a little weird when he talks so scathingly about the importance of physicality and being able to overcome getting punched in the mouth and so forth... since he never played college football.

Huh? Literally every pro athlete in America has a second home in Atlanta. "Literally."

Atlanta or Milledgeville.

He played college rugby. But to be fair college rugby is more about drinking large quantities of beer than it is about playing rugby.

I actually heard that one of the reasons the Hawks have struggled to lure top flight free agents in the past is because so many NBA players have side-hos in Atlanta and don't want to live full-time in Atlanta during the season. That's neither here nor there, but I found it interesting.

Well, I agree it was probably pretextual, but Leach left TTU under very different circumstances than CPJ is leaving here. Like, wildly different. No doubt he left behind a divided fanbase, though. Everybody not named Saban does that.

So Leach O’Learyed so guy because he didn’t understand concussion protocol a decade ago. I can live with that.

1. He finished first at places that never finished first before or since.

2. Because CPJ's problems started when his offense became common enough that teams could schedule practice games against teams running it.

Fair enough, though I don’t think CPJ’s problems were offense related.

They were.

Lombardi himself couldnt spend 100% of his time practicing against the wrong offense or scrubs or both and yet field a top D on gameday. It should be accepted that if you do that to a D you will need to carry the D.

That’s not how it works, but do agree it’s ultimately the head coach’s responsibility.

And yet Army's defense is 16th in points/game allowed.

They gave up 34 to Duke. But held Oklahoma to 28.

Personally I think their O was better than ours, and I bet their opponents had very limited posessions.
