Here is my uneducated guess as to what I think happened.

1. He's not homesick, as someone said earlier that happens the first couple of months.

2. I think he saw in the spring the competition at QB and thought to himself am I or am I not going to be the man, maybe he's smart enough to figure that out already. This gives him a chance to go home look at other schools and decide what he really wants.

Whatever happens I wish him well.

Why would he NOT think he was the man? After Spring practice he was #2 on the depth chart behind a 4th year player.

They either want to play at Ga Tech or they don't want to play here. I don't care if a recruit has 12 stars by his name, if he don't want to be here, he don't need to be here. I think coach has done well at coaching up some of these guys so far that really wanted to play at GT.

Whatever the case, if he is a QB, he's our Ike of WWII, and he better be able to handle some problems in his life without quitting and going home.

If one doesn't like getting his behind reduced in a chewing, now is the time for him to hit the road. I'm just proud all this is happening before practice gets going.

Whether it's homesickness (which ain't no laughing matter), or just afraid of stepping up to a new competitive level of play, I do wish the best for each young man and I do hope that they will overcome any problems they may be facing and become better men for it.

Right now, I'm just hoping the rest of these young men have their helmets screwed on good and tight and their heart attitudes in swing for their job ahead with GT.

This is why you can't get too hyped up about recruiting. Even among the highly touted prospects some just can't hack it. It's nice to get all these big start guys, but if they never see the field who cares how many star they have?

I'm not sure if you can call his mother breaking her foot homesickness, but Choice transferred to Tech, in part, to be closer to home. Calvin Booker also transferred to Tech with no guarantee of a scholarship because of homesickness. Tech isn't special or anything with transfers and we receive transfers as well as having transfers leave.

Also, homesickness could be alive and well well past the first two months. CJ Spiller came very close to transferring back to UF after a whole year at Clemson.

He really is homesick and is not enjoying his classroom experience at GT...despite making all A's and B's. We all remember how cold the freshman classes can seem. Someone posted some links to his MySpace page that had countless quotes going back to February where he talked about missing home, disliking class, missing his girlfriend (how many times have we seen that!), etc.

Ma Tech is not too concerned about user friendliness for entering freshmen. We may be a school that should prefer letting kids finish out their senior years in high school then arrive in August with their fellow freshmen to begin their football and academic careers together. I wonder if Threet would have fared better graduating with high school friends and beginning with the others rather than starting off with the academic load, off season workouts, Spring practice, and the rigors of Summer school and a hot Atlanta summer. Regardless, I wish him well.

Honestly I think this isn't that big of all deal; we still have a load of QBs despite Garner and Threet leaving.

We should be fine and if these rumors about JN being amazing in Summer drills are true, I see a Leak/Tebow situation coming this fall for Bennett and Nesbitt. Wouldn't that be awesome? With that, TC running the ball, our O-Line, and 007 calling the plays , we will be an offensive juggernaut.

We will soon forget all about this when we start kicking ass to begin the season. Mark it down.

I just thought it would have worn off by now with almost 7 months in Atlanta and all the activities. I did read a little of his MSpace and it seemed everyone kept saying how much they missed him and that can be hard. I do wish him luck though. Being only 17 The summer of 83 was not fun for me and I will admit I shed a few tears when my parents couldn't make there trip down just for dinner.

I have also heard that Nesbitt as well as others had made great strides over the summer.

Like I said Competition will make the cream rise.

Now that I'm over on this board, time to post! I honestly can't remember any homesickness during my freshman year in '75...about all the sickness I can recall was from too much beer...but I digress.

Whatever the issue (and I certainly can see there being several possibilities), the point that he doesn't want to be at Tech is all I really need to know. Seems that there are a lot of young men who DO want to be at Tech. This train will continue to roll.

Part of the problem may have been his early enrollment as someone stated. I went to GT one summer (back on the quarter system) and a summer at GT could be pretty bland. I imagine it could be pretty depressing if you are new in town and don't know anyone. Not a lot of people, not a lot of activities on campus. I hope the boy the best; but he may realize when he gets home that it is not the same. You can't roll back the clock.

What surprises me is that we got this big long thread going for kid who hasn't played a down. I kinda wondered why we were picking up a quarter back earlier in recruiting, I guess the coaches have suspected this was coming.

Welcome to the board!!!

The quality depth of last year's class combined with the added quantity and quality of this year's class (should we fill all of our slots) should make this issue moot. There are too many people out there belittling this young man (I say though I'm only 25) when we should simply be wishing him well and moving on.

From what I've heard, Nesbitt has looked like a beast this summer...

What do you mean this summer? Practice hasn't started yet. Just voluntary workouts, no pads or stuff. If Nesbitt spooked Threet jogging around in shorts then he was pretty timid...

Maybe he glared at him in the weight room. Seriously, I hope Threet changes his mind. Don't castigate the kid while there's still time to change his mind.

No input, but that's just funny:laugher::laugher:

that "voluntary" workout is pretty organized. If you have the WR's and the QB's BOTH doing voluntary stuff you can get a read for who is looking sharp.

If you throw some lb's and db's in there the voluntary stuff can turn into a football game.

I suspect SOME are pretty intense even in the voluntary workouts.

If Nesbitt stared me down in the weight room, I would definitely high tail it to rural Michigan.

The word voluntary should just be dropped. Everyone knows who attends and that affects who plays.

Choice has a mother who is sick. His desire to come home is understandable. Booker was not going to be in Auburn's QB race, he left after 2 years with the program. Threet left after one spring practice without even giving the season a shot. From all the rumors swirling, it had to do with his girlfriend, but who knows. I don't think these situations are comparable.
