most under appreciated player

The Oline for me. The took a lot of heat, and deservedly so, but when they clicked the offense was poetry in motion. I'm pumped to see improved and more importantly, consistant play out of the unit.

I concur....but I dont think they clicked once all year...even in the UM and UGAy game. Watching film from those games there were still too many missed blocks even though we ran for 400+yds per game in those two.

I know it doesn't seem like he was under-appreciated, but I don't think most people realize how many plays Morgan Burnett is in on.

Incredible ball hawk.

I think most folks appreciate #1 big time.

Kickers/Punters. They are almost single handedly responsible for about 30% of the points. They also control field position. We are quick to blame when they "miss" an assignment and it often goes unnoticed when they perform well.

Bebe by far for me...I hope we get him more catches this year.

He is under appreciated from the standpoint that he stuck around when our other receivers bolted.

He got his props in one game, but he did his job blocking all year and was our only threat.

For every drop there were two or three plays when he was open and we failed to get the ball in his reach. Even Calvin had some drops but he also got more opportunities.

By definition, wouldn't the most under-appreciated player be someone who isn't mentioned in this thread?

I sometimes think the water bottle carrier is very under appreciated. Having to run on the field in front of a packed stadium, having to decide who gets the water first since there are usually only 6 bottles. That can be some pressure but they always seem to get their job done.

My runner-up is the headset carrier (another tough and demanding job)

I think the real key for the bottle carrier is who is going to get the bottle all to himself. 6 bottles, 11 players...you do the math. We sometimes stop noticeing repetitive excellence. I think our crew is All-ACC this year personally.

From this fan's perspective, the bottle carrier can do no wrong if the carrier is a stacked "she" and has gorgeous legs and short shorts. It doesn't even matter if she forgets the water and has to run back for it just as long as she has a loose fitting bra or no bra at all.

Hey wait, my wife fit that discription in 84 and 85.

RM,

Your tongue in cheek reply made me think about it... during your playing days, how did the water carrier decide? Were you all yelling --- and who yelled the loudest? Just wondering --- did you get the bottle first, or did the "skill positions" get it first?

Are you kidding? They came straight too me, LOL. No, they took care of us all equally. My wife actually held C. Curry's headset so she wasn't in the fracas that much.

No. Wasn't kidding. Thanks for the response. Did not play football or waterboy, so did not know if there was a pecking order, or if sometimes you got served last or anything. Did not know if some people were waterboy favorites -- in that always got first bottle, or if there were any other water rankings. You know how competitive people get -- I could see someone getting upset that they got the bottle after someone else. But that would not be a lineman doing that but more of a TO type.

Over rated: Jaybo Shaw

Under rated:
Josh Nesbitt - Hurt all season long... Big time heart and leader. Very productive offense this year.
Kyle Jackson - Most consistent LB all year. Played all 3 positions.
Dan Voss - Center is most important position on OL according to the coaches
Lucas Cox - Out of position and blocked like a champ
Scott Blair - Might have saved 3 TDs on kickoff returns.

I would have to agree here

I think you could make a point for him, but the majority of our fans don't under rate him. Mostly the guys who want to see Jaybo.
Kyle Jackson - Most consistent LB all year. Played all 3 positions.
Still couldn't hold Sed's jock. I would say he was the most consistent as far as not being hurt, but he got pushed around a lot. I think he'll be much better when he loses the rest of the baby fat. He has a great frame and attitude

I think he is rated about where he should be. He will have to fight to fend off McRae.
Lucas Cox - Out of position and blocked like a champ Agreed
Scott Blair - Might have saved 3 TDs on kickoff returns. Agreed
Another under rated guy was James Liipfert. He was a special teams mad man.
