Lets be clear on this - getting a pile of candidates, getting them vetted, and getting the best of the vetted ones is his job. That's what he gets paid to do. Vetting is part of it, it's always been part of it. Big loud mouthed donors are part of it, and have always been part of the process. It's his job as AD to make sure the big mouthed donors aren't going to piss all over his candidate, and if they do, that he'll still get vetted, and if he doesn't, that he's got a backup candidate or five.

Seriously. It's what makes an AD a good AD.

If he's a good AD then he'll have another guy to plug in.

If Muschamp was such a great candidate, why isn't Arkansas hot after him, or Duke, or Smu, exct.
 
Just because you don't think we're getting YOUR guy, you're going to say we can't get better.

FWIW, I don't think Muschamp is the right guy for the job and I'd rather have a proven head coach.

Can none of us wait until first, we acutally see who we get, and second, we see what the product on the field is, before we go stating where this program is going?
 
The donors are part of any job, yes, but according to dem what happened was that he was told by Clough that WC was going to be fine and then gets told yesterday that he isn't of a sudden.

That's the source of frustration, and I'm sorry if this wasn't clear in the OP.
 
RUMOR is that his boss told him that he supported his decision for weeks until it came under fire and then turned and ran away from his candidate and left him out to dry.

If true that is different.

Apparently the problem is that Clough was fine with Muschamp up until last night when a "big money guy" started whispering in his ear.

I was thinking more to a school where when someone is hired to do a job that involves gathering information and making an informed decision that the decision isn't summarily overruled by a knucklehead, doofus or buffoon who probably knows less about the kind of coach we need than about 3/4 of the people in this forum.

I just flat find that hard to believe. Call me a skeptic, but how on earth would anyone, even Dan Rad, find that out?

How can you guys swallow this tripe about Clough undercutting our AD and hanging him out to dry? People have been watching too much 24....conspiracies everywhere. This doesn't even pass the smell test, so AT LEAST be skeptical.

If you believe this actually happened the way it's been presented, then you are calling our AD an outright liar.
It has come straight form the horses mouth..."nothing could be further from the truth" was his response.

No, Muschamp is out. His brother mike who would be closer to WM than anybody is the Head football coach at Lovett High school where I graduated from last year. I played for mike muschamp last year on the Lovett football team and just talked to him today. I asked him about the job and he said his brother was out of consideration because the big-money boosters didn't want him in there because hes a dawg and they didn't want someone like him running our program.
