Dan,

Just wanted to express my concerns with your search for a new coach...I am very worried you may make the wrong decision by hiring Will Muschamp. If he doesn't succeed within the first two years you can expect that this fan base will turn on him (and quite possibly yourself) if it doesn't work out as planned. You've witnessed it firsthand...we don't like Georgia. And if he doesn't do well, you could very well be held accountable.

I do not want to see this happen. Don't get me wrong, I want ANYONE who coaches at GT to be successful. I'd just hate to see all the wonderful progress you've made for our school spoiled by one decision...sadly, this is a possibility.

I'd love to see Paul Johnson on the Flats. After you're done introducing him as the new coach for GT football and are being asked the all-important question: "what made you pick Paul Johnson?", you can undoubtedly say that "Furman Bischer told me to"! I know you're a very serious man but that should get a few chuckles.

Good Luck,

Wesley de

WesleyD21-
I agree. The Muschamp hire would take BALLS OF STEEL. DRAD better be damn sure that he is the guy. GT fans could take a hire that is a georgie grad but i dont think they would put up with it for too many losses to georgie. This is a high risk hire. A failure of Muschamp could be the end of our AD.

please shut up, that was so pathetic

Mr. DRad,

Please don't hire one of the hottest young coaches in the country. Please don't hire one of the best recruiters in the southeast. Please don't hire a coach that is so sharp he became DC at LSU at the age of 31 and was part of National Championship team the next year. Please don't hire a coach that already has recruiting ties with many of our current targets and even current players and is very well liked by these players. Please don't hire a guy that is a great motivator and a guy that relates well to college kids.

Please don't do this because we don't like UGA.

Thanks,

Mr. GT Fan

Well, you better prepare yourself, because I'm betting Muschamp is going to be announced as our new head coach by Friday of this coming week.

Dan,

Just wanted to express my concerns with your search for a new coach...I am very worried you may make the wrong decision by...
...taking advice from some guy on the intarweb.

Whew! Thank God you reached DRad in the nick of time!

:D

If what I have heard is true WM may be the guy. I've heard he's strict on discipline. He doesn't take crap from anyone, he's energetic, he has fire in his belly and I don't think his UGag back ground will hinder him in any way. Is he the guy to get us out of 6 years of mediocrity I wish I knew. The thing that I find most bothersome is he's never been a HC and we don't want 6 more years of OJT.

Guess wesley will be registering firemuschamp.com now. Good to see no one's throwing in the towel now  So much for everyone giving the new coach a chance no matter the hire.

At least you're willing to give him an opportunity should he be hired. I think there's concerns with any of the candidates right now. My favorite is Hatcher. The concern with him is lack of Div 1a experience. There's a list for every candidate. I'm just hoping the new head coach gets a unified fanbase for the first two years. After that, all bets are off.

From the GT people I speak to, they feel the same and as Stinger says on his blog, no matter who says grow up and not feel that way, a large portion of the fanbase would turn on Mushamp in mass, faster than they turned on Gailey. Maybe his first year, when he has a losing season or when ugag beats us that 1st year. Very good possibilty.

We need Hatcher or someone similiar, with experience. Whoever the coach is, next year will be tough, because of all the players we lose. Ugag will be better as they return a lot. Yes, next year will be tough and the potential for things going south very quickly under Muschamp, is possible. Being a dog, will only add fuel to the fire.

If Muschamp got the job, it would be because he is a buddy of Drad's and his Drad will be held accountable.

Hatcher,Johnson, or Edsall are far more qualified, and safer picks, so if Muschamp gets it, Drad will have been perceived as giving the job to his buddy.

I believe it was Barnhart who recently said in the Ajc, that it is likely that the older big money donors will not allow Drad in the end to give the job to his young buddy Muschamp, the thought of an ex-dog would kill the deal.

I supported Gailey for the 1st two years, the end started with the 39-3 Clemson debacle. The end of my support was the VT debacle in Atlanta on Thursday nite. After that I said to heck with him. I was told by BOR to go to BO and I did. I could not support a guy who had blowout after blowout with just a few token big game wins and lack of QB development, and his mediocre offense in general. I decided to turn this 70 year old body into a couch potato.

Don't rope me into this, you were told by pretty much everyone to stop posting because you kept saying the same things over and over again. I have nothing personal against you, I just think you sound like a broken record too often.

Just curious, any linkage to the money for the Gailey buyout and support for Muschamp?

There must be something that would cause us to move someone with no head coaching or offensive experience and the likelyhood of some level of devisiveness of the fanbase due to UGA ties to the top of our list.

Maybe the guy is impressive as hell in person, but not sure I see the obvious attributes that would make him our #1 choice.

Or sooner!

In all these years, I thought I would never see the day, that a dawg would be the head coach at GT.

These last 6 or 7 years must have really ate the fight out of some people and we have just thrown in the towel and said uncle to the sleeze bags to the east. Maybe, the buzzoffers were right after all, 6 years under Gailey has killed the rivalry.

John, I hope you are wrong and the people that are saying that the older big money donors will stop Drad in his tracks are right.

If that is true, then are big time money donors have sh!t for brains and will aid in the ushering in of a CG clone. WHO GIVEs A FLYING F*CK IF HE WENT TO UGAy OR NOT? You guys seriously need to get over yourselves. It's this kind of crap that's going to keep us stuck in this mediocre ditch we are in.

Hey, what makes you or anyone else say that the Dawg, is more qualified than Edsall, Johnson, or Hatcher? Not close. It is only because he is Drad's young buddy.

If Muschamp got the job, it would be because he is a buddy of Drad's and his Drad will be held accountable.

First, I doubt DRad is that stupid. He's going to select the best coach for GT. He obviously has connections with Fisher, Muschamp, and Pellini.

Hatcher,Johnson, or Edsall are far more qualified, and safer picks, so if Muschamp gets it, Drad will have been perceived as giving the job to his buddy.

By whose opinion? Your internet fantasy football opinion? Muschamp to me is far and away the best candidate for what we need. But that's just my opinion. Many Auburn people I know were scared that we would hire him, and with Tubberville possibly leaving, many wanted to promote him.

What kills me is bull sh*t after bull sh*t post about not hiring the best guy out there because of something totally unrelated to his coaching abilities. If DRad thinks Muschamp is the best candidate, then we're all morons if we have a problem with something not related to his coaching skills. Are you a moron?

Wow, you are relying on info reported by Barnhardt, an ex-dog himself who doesn't want to see Muschamp on the GT sidelines. Barnhardt has about as much knowledge of our big donors as Pee Wee Herman. Let me explain one thing to you. Our Big money donors are not stupid people. These guys are pretty successful in their lives and know what it takes to be successful. They also know that not hiring someone based on something unrelated to their coaching abilities is a stupid proposition that they wouldn't even consider.
