My warning to DRaD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First, I doubt DRad is that stupid. He's going to select the best coach for GT. He obviously has connections with Fisher, Muschamp, and Pellini.

By whose opinion? Your internet fantasy football opinion? Muschamp to me is far and away the best candidate for what we need. But that's just my opinion. Many Auburn people I know were scared that we would hire him, and with Tubberville possibly leaving, many wanted to promote him.

What kills me is bull sh*t after bull sh*t post about not hiring the best guy out there because of something totally unrelated to his coaching abilities. If DRad thinks Muschamp is the best candidate, then we're all morons if we have a problem with something not related to his coaching skills. Are you a moron?

Wow, you are relying on info reported by Barnhardt, an ex-dog himself who doesn't want to see Muschamp on the GT sidelines. Barnhardt has about as much knowledge of our big donors as Pee Wee Herman. Let me explain one thing to you. Our Big money donors are not stupid people. These guys are pretty successful in their lives and know what it takes to be successful. They also know that not hiring someone based on something unrelated to their coaching abilities is a stupid proposition that they wouldn't even consider.

Your right on ONE thing.

Your's, mine and everyone else here, is JUST an opinion.

We will see who is right within the next couple of days.

Here's the deal with Muschamp. How many coaches do you know that are good enough with Xs and Os to be a DC in the NFL, but are also considered great recruiters in the Southeast. Most guys are one or the other. Muschamp also has a great personality and relates to players, fans, and the media. Oh yeah he is only 36! This kind of guy does not come along that often. Let the mutt stuff go, this guy is a great candidate.

Hey, what makes you or anyone else say that the Dawg, is more qualified than Edsall, Johnson, or Hatcher? Not close. It is only because he is Drad's young buddy.
If he is hired it will not be b/c he is DRad's "buddy"; it will be because he is the best candidate.

Edsall - Given what he's done at UConn, he will bring in a generic offense, which is not what we need. no go

Hatcher - Needs a few more years in Div I FCS to prove he's legitimate

Johnson - Option offense he runs is also not exciting and it is not that effective when utilized against tougher FBS opponents, which we will face. Also I thought he had no interest?

Muschamp - Success on both Pro and College levels, will inject bring intensity and passion into GT, better D than Tenuta, will bring in OC that will match his personality, which imo will translate into an exciting offense. Muschamp is exactly the kind of guy that DRad outlined during the Press Conference.

Question right back at you. What makes you think those guys are more qualified than Muschamp? Hatcher has NO division 1A experience at ALL. He has one year of D1AA experience.

Edsall just doesn't excite me. He definitely has more experience than Muschamp, but guess what, Gailey has more experience than BOTH of them. So lets just toss your logic aside for a second as its bogus criteria. Edsall has been all over the place at UCONN and his overall record as a head coach is a losing record. The Big East is not the most competitive league out there. While he built that program from the ground up, outside of the GT coaching job, he really hasn't received much attention. The last time we made a hire based on a coaches best season we hired an 11-1 Bill Lewis from ECU and guess where that got us. Besides, Edsall does not know the southeast recruiting trail nearly as well as Muschamp does. Muschamp brings in INSTANT recruiting ties to Georgia and Alabama that don't need to be forged ala Gailey or Edsall for that matter.

Paul Johnson MAY get an interview this week, and personally, I would love to see him at GT. I believe he has far more experience than any candidate that we are looking at, but I think financially, we will not be able to get him or so I've been told. We can get a Muschamp for 1.1 to 1.4 million a year. PJ would command a salary above 1.5 and we would have to pay his buyout, and I don't see us being in a position to do that, or so I've been told.

Better yet 1gtfan, why don't you do a quick overview of Muschamp's experience and tell us what you don't like about him instead of making emotionally charged comments about his playing at UGA rule your thought process. Take that out of the equation and give me something that ACTUALLY IS based on coaching criteria.

I remember in 1999 Oklahoma hired a 38 year old Defensive coordinator from Florida who had no Head Coaching experience. Can anyone tell me how OU has been doing lately?

Oh what was his name????

BINGO!!!

This is only true if you are talking head coaching experience and Muschamp has no head coaching experience at any level.

Hatcher has no Div 1A experience in ANY capacity. Muschamp does.

Mr. DRad,

Please don't hire one of the hottest young coaches in the country. Please don't hire one of the best recruiters in the southeast. Please don't hire a coach that is so sharp he became DC at LSU at the age of 31 and was part of National Championship team the next year. Please don't hire a coach that already has recruiting ties with many of our current targets and even current players and is very well liked by these players. Please don't hire a guy that is a great motivator and a guy that relates well to college kids.

Please don't do this because we don't like UGA.

Thanks,

Mr. GT Fan

whatever... Muschamp, a possible UGA grad coaching GT??? Wake up people! Richt made Muschamp's defense a joke the past few years. I really think people like just because of video they saw of him saying "Boom MF"... silly when you really think about. Hire an experienced coach..and not gamble with a young asst coach whose team underperformed again this year.

The Dawg is scared!

Find out what his defenses ranked year in and year out and then compare them to Tenuta's defenses, before you go judge him off of one game. It also may be relevant that Auburn turned the ball over 5 times in that game which basically sucked the life out of Auburn's defense, but don't let that stop from you making a stupid irrational post.

I ddin't realize we counted grad assistants as coaching positions.

Was he a grad assistant or something at Kentucky? Nothing is showing up on his biography.

Thoughts on the responses:

1. I think Muschamp can do VERY well at GT.

2. But if he doesn't....look out.:wow:

3. I wouldn't start a firemuschamp.com

4. I like Muschamp....I just like Paul Johnson better....so does Furman Bischer and he's awesome.

We can not afford, at this time, to make a "safe" hire. We need to make a stirke to the gut.

PJ is a good coach, but I don't think he would have the kind of impact we need right now.

Edsall, maybe. I think he brings more fire to the table.

WM or Hatcher would both be killer.

And for people saying, "why not just give it to JT if we want to hire a DC." Well, we are not hiring a DC, we are hiring a HC. Maybe JT could do it, but for years he has given the impression that he would not want to do the things necessary to be a HC.

I trust DRad.

For the record also, MAYBE WM COULD DO IT.
