National signing day

It remains expected that offensive tackle Bobby Mooney from Woodrow Wilson High in Long Beach, Calif., also will sign with Tech, but it likely was to be delayed by a procedural matter.

It is a considerable drop from the 2020 class that featured four four-star prospects and was ranked 27th nationally and fifth in the ACC. (Two of the four-star signees,J. Gibbs and J. Ivey, both transferred this offseason, to bama and Ole Miss)

Collins’ 2021 class ranked 48th nationally and 11th in the conference.

Including Mooney, this years 15-player class of high-school prospects is the smallest of Collins’ three and the class is ranked 53rd by 247Sports Composite in FBS and eighth in the ACC.

Also gone from that 2020 class:
The highest ranked OL recruit (Rankins)
Khaya Wright
Tucker Gleason
Emmanuel Johnson
So that's six out of 23 high school signees.
The 19 class is even worse. Of 9 CGC signees from that class, four have left. One went into portal and came back. These are guys who would be fourth-year guys in your program, guys you expect to be leaders by this point. And there ain't many left from the 2019 class. I think I count 10 of 22 total signees from that class no longer around.

On a more positive note, the Moon finally came out last night.

Do this for every team - most of this is portal effect - new norm

So just to clarify, Tech only signed 15 available HS seniors? then the balance of players were from the portal. This, in my opinion is not a sustainable program.

3 wins/year is obviously not sustainable for another program. It was only a matter of time before even HS kids saw through the facade/hype and looked at the results. You can win in the ACC with these recruiting classes if your coaching staff is competent. Unfortunately, that is not the case here. The problem is that our AD and used car salesman have been hyping up our "vastly improved" recruiting and using that as a deflection to draw focus away from the clown show coaching and on-field results. We all know where things are headed with Tech football. We hired a clown that talked a big game and there is still a significant amount of denial from Stansbury and some fans.

Ya. I imagine TStan wants back that letter to the fans at the end of the year. In addition to hyping the “progress no one can see”, he went heavy into the paint with our highly touted and historic recruiting class ranked in the high 20s.

Oooof.

Undoubtedly. The margin for error has been shrunk significantly. Oh wait - isn't that a good thing?

I agree so far all this Transfer Portal recruiting has produced is three 3 win seasons...
