New ACC scheduling model

It looks like they picked one permanent rival for each team and then drew names out of a hat for the other two. I don’t know what öööö y’all are smoking calling this öööö traditional and regional.

Um, not exactly. Look at the NC schools.

Duke got the 3 NC schools (their top 3)
UNC got 2 NC schools and UVa (their top 3)
NCSt got Duke, UNC, and Clem (probably their top 3 choices/attendance draws)
Wake got Duke, VT, and GT (their rival, the closet school/top attendance draw, and GT)

We got Clem (top attendance draw), UL, and Wake. We basically got öööö. We only got Clemson because the Clemson alum like the game.

It is probably a toss up on who got shafted the worst between UL and us.

Three schools drew only on opponent that was on their yearly schedule: GT, UL, Wake. Of those, Wake pick up a sellout crowd (VT), UL picked up a game in FL and on in GA (recruiting hotbeds), and GT picked up basically nothing.

Looks like we will be in the old Big East for home games.
Tech better buckle up. If they think the current arrangement doesn’t sell season tickets, wait and see what a home schedule of Big East + UNC does for sales.

The reason the ACC sucks is because it purposefully arranges ööööty matchups instead of just doing a north/south split.

Terrible conference. I’d volunteer to maintain and mow the grass at Bobby Dodd Stadium by myself if somebody would get us out of that conference and into the B1G or SEC.

To play devil's advocate for the sake of argument, we do get Clemson and a lot of teams would love that as a permanent opponent. Does it even out vs. what some of the other teams got based on preference? I don't think so, but it is a marquee game every year.

I like Louisville in our group as long as we get a Saturday night game up there. Spend Friday night in Nashville. Hit the west side of the Bourbon Trail on Saturday pre-game. Come back through Lexington for the east side of the Trail on Sunday.

Well this puts a new twist on things!

The new scheduling model will be revised soon. After four teams go to the SEC and four go to the Big 10, the six left will play each other twice every season. I think we could be competitive.
