Of course, we could win some games and make that moot. But until I see that happen, my level of optimism for any move remains zero. That way, I don't get overly disappointed with another wretched season but could be happy if things go well.

Every defensive playcall has run fits. He will likely be handling the coaching duties for that.

So I guess the DC still decides if the Safety comes up to defend the run or the LB drops into coverage.
 
THacker needs to go play golf.. This guy sure has experience--has he burned out? otoh--couldn't do worse.

On offense, I’ve understood it to be who has responsibility for installing and selecting game plans.

That's DEFENSIVE run game coordinator. I would think that means that his primary job is to coordinate the DEFENSE against the run game. He is not the run game coordinator

Of course, they should, but there are tactics and techniques in defending running plays that are different from those used in defending pass plays. His primary responsibility will be planning (and teaching, I assume) defense against the run.

During a practice week, you have a 10-20min practice period of your opponents top runs and top formations. Turner will be responsible for implementing how the defense will align, teaching them their assignments, and their roles in the run fits on runs away and runs to them.
