Tech has to approve every design, and they have to use official colors. This design they said we can’t approve as a licensed design but you’re welcome to print and sell it on another page in non-school colors.

So even if you don’t call it a GT shirt the school can control the color you use?

Only because it's a Tech-related thing that they don't want printed. I could probably print it legally but would piss off the school that gives me a license. No, I sent them versions with yellow and was told no.

So there is an opportunity for a shell company that is unlicensed that sells gold shirts.... oh the possibilities

If you order by 9am tomorrow it'll go out tomorrow. Otherwise it probably won't go out on time b/c we aren't able to ship Tuesday afternoon or Wed this week.
 
This is the most relevant thread I could think to post this. We admittedly have one of the worst fan apparel offerings in college football (sans Section 103). Here is a chance to impact some change.

Rhoback makes great hoodies and polos. On their gameday apparel page you can request to have a team added (“Want to See Your School?”). It would be great to get enough GT responses to push something into production: https://rhoback.com/collections/licensed-collegiate-collection

Every time one of these premium retailers decides to make Tech gear they go to GTAA, and then come out with a bunch of nothing but navy blue. See Homefield and Onward Reserve. But somehow they can make 3 different shades of orange for Clemson and Tennessee and Texas, 4 different shades of crimson for Oklahoma and Alabama and Arkansas, Carolina baby blue.......

But this is cool (even if ridiculously expensive), so maybe there is hope

Wonder why Tech hates its gold. The whole stadium is painted blue. Blue paint all over the field, too. No gold anywhere to be found.

It was refreshing to see the field painted white and gold at MBS Saturday like BDS field used to be painted.

Who are these people running Tech now?

I had a discussion about this at the ND tailgate. If you want an honest assessment a big part of it is the old gold color doesn’t translate well to knit fabrics. It’s fine for a painted helmet but on clothing you will always see the different hues and at that point it loses its effect.

Also, gold tops need contrast for the pants. That’s why they wear white pants on the field. The same logic applies to a fan. You either need to wear dark jeans or white chinos to look good in a gold shirt. If you wear khaki pants you end up looking like a beige blob and that’s not fashionable.

This is why there is an overt tendency toward navy blue or white shirts. They make an assessment on what a majority of people will buy and not “it has to be this specific color on the Pantone wheel”.
