Next Offense

Find me another team whose offense:

1) Has been as consistently good as ours since 2008
2) Operates with a similarly inferior talent base compared to their opposition

Do that and I'd be fine switch over to that one.

I don't mean that rhetorically... I really don't know of one. I'll research it later but the only ones I can think of that were as good had more talent than us.

I want a triple-spread-read option, run and shoot, pro style, air raid offense with West Coast tendencies.

You’d just claim that whatever offense/school was clearly more talented, had more majors, better looking women, whatever other excuse you could think up.

I just said that my post was not rhetorical. I'm genuinely curious, because from my eyes nobody out there is doing better with our type of talent. Instead of making cracks about the offense, how about providing some data?

How about no. Because you would do exactly what I said. You’d dig for any little insignificant difference as a reason it won’t work at Tech and Paul Johnson is the only coach who could ever win here.

talent talent talent! like the universal ether, it explains all and refutes all. (yes, I'm being unfair to the universal ether)

I'll take a shot. Baylor under Briles. Or hell, FAU under Briles The Younger. I feel like either of those guys could call a hell of a game at GT.

If the difference is that they have 4 and 5 star players on offense, then yeah it doesn't prove much. Talent is literally the only qualifier I added to my question.

Oklahoma St’s offense.

The Briles are about as radioactive as a coach can get. Junior only got a job cause Kiffin literally couldn’t care less.

Look at the offensive skill position talent Briles had at Baylor, just off the top of my head.

Robert Griffin (1st round pick 2012)
Kendall Wright (1st round pick 2012)
Josh Gordon (2nd round pick 2012)
Terrance Williams (3rd round pick 2013)
Corey Coleman (1st round pick 2016)

That's like having Joe Hamilton and 3 Demaryius Thomases at the same time.

That said, I'd take that style in a heartbeat. It's as fun to watch as the 3O when it's working. Unfortunately, Baylor's defense was somehow just as bad as ours, otherwise they would have been a playoff team.

Oklahoma St’s offense.
Oklahoma State recruits about 20-30 spots higher than us on average. We haven't had as highly ranked of a recruiting class as them since 2007.

Still, they definitely outperform their recruiting rankings offensively every year.

I'd settle for a full house T or a pure vanilla wishbone with Tight Ends that could block and catch. Dr. Homer Rice would have loved CPJ's offense seeing how he wrote a book on the Triple Option.

Are we contending those guys couldn't get into Tech? I am not familiar with any of them or their recruiting rankings or anything.

I get that, but the offense is more the question. If we could get a non-radioactive person who could run the Briles style here, I would not be upset about it. You can say the same for most places in CFB, I suppose.

And there you go. No matter what you will excuse your way out of why all Tech is able to run is the TO.

2017: 2 4 stars, all else 3 stars
2016: all 3 stars
2015: 2 four stars, all else 2 or 3 stars

Looks a lot like our classes.

I'm not contending anything other than the fact that Briles had some incredible skill position players which undoubtedly helped his offense be more successful. Even RG3's successor is in the NFL now.
