Next Priority

All I know is, we don't seem to be very attacking on the defense. We seem to take a lot of punishment and get pushed.

FTRS tracks a lot of stats and reviews them every week. We blitzed on 55% of dropbacks against U[sic]GA, to pick the most recent example. That seems pretty aggressive - the problem is that we can’t finish the deal very often (unless we’re playing UNC…). We need personnel upgrades and maybe better blitz schemes, and maybe improving football S&C will help.

You are free to ignore my comments. I'm sorry I have a different opinion. You are so busy trying to shut my comments down. I get it. Your kid. I call things as a I see them. I don't dance, I don't tell stories and I don't sugar coat things. I will stick with my opinion. We need a scheme to match the QBs abilities. As for your "offer"? No thanks. I don't know you, don't want to know you and can trust you none. No thanks. As for me being a man? Thanks.. douche bag. I have done more, seen more and regretted more than most anyone on this chat. I lost my best friend from a sucking chest wound, while holding him, trying to get him into a helicopter. So eff off, with your "man" öööö. You get yourself a Silver Star and we can talk, asshole.

It’s not that it’s my kid, trust I’ve seen quite a few hundred people talking negatively about ZP since he’s enrolled, but you are the first one I ever felt compelled to respond to. I think it’s because you claim you coach the QB position, and now I find it even more interesting you’re also a Silver Star recipient. I was in the Marine Corps, so I know all to well what valor and sacrifices are.

My issue with you is not that you don’t think he’s the right QB to lead GT, it’s the claims you make trying to back up you know what you’re talking about. That’s why I keep responding to you…your understanding, or rather, how you stated you “coach” the QB position and what proper mechanical are is so archaic.

Thank for your service and sorry for you loss. The Silver Star is a huge honor….when was it issued?

There's a difference in having an opinion and being ignorant. You are doing the latter. He's offering to show you how QBs are being taught real-time at the P5 level and you keep doubling down that he's wrong and that it's just your "opinion." In 8th grade my math teacher's opinion was that you won't always have a calculator with you everywhere you go. Times change. I have a full blown computer in my pocket with more power than it took to land on the moon. The whole point is none of this means what you were taught or have taught is/was wrong at the time, but it may be today. Have an open mind.

Curious, where have you seen that and from whom? Only asking because all I've seen on ST before he played was many of us wondering why he wasn't getting snaps (and afterward wondering even more). Have you had to listen to that from local people who wished he had gone somewhere else?

Turnovers is often a product of bad play from the other team. I am more interested in seeing 3 and outs and yes pressure on the opposing QB. If we can get some sacks, that would be great. All I know is, we don't seem to be very attacking on the defense. We seem to take a lot of punishment and get pushed.

Everyone views stats a little differently but every coach I’ve known values turnover margin as one of the top statistical parameters….I know I did when I was a coach. Good defenses have a way of exacerbating an offense’s bad tendencies and low offensive turnovers sustains drives and increase points per possession.

Wasn't referring to this board. I love ST....seems like everyone is very level headed for the most part and seem pretty knowledgable about Xs and Os, etc. I get it Zach won't be everyone's flavor. We take no offense to any of it or take it personal. It's the nature of the position, we get it. I just find it comical when it comes from certain people.

And I have nothing personal against Jmonty, I really don't, but I just felt compelled to question him on his philosophy and how he "teaches" the QB position. Not very many elite QB coaches that way anymore. The QB position is evolving every year. Actually we are in the works of getting some sessions setup with Tom House, super excited to get him to apply his technology and knowledge transferred to Zach.

Interesting. I didn't think you had seen it here, really... I just was surprised that you had heard it at all, so I was wondering if it was outside of the GT fanbase.

I think Jmonty might have just stayed in a Holiday Inn at some point you know? Fun fact- he also invented the internet and personally killed Osama Bin Ladin

My uncle, a GT graduate, was a Marine lieutenant at Okinawa in WWII. He was awarded a bronze star w/V device for his heroism saving his squad there. His memoirs mention several of his friends dying in that battle. He would have *never* talked this way to anyone while flaunting his heroism. In fact, I didn't even know about the bronze star until after he passed. IMPO, this response is totally uncalled for, and it threatens to denigrate your service record. I deeply appreciate and am grateful for your service. FWIW, I would encourage you to reconsider how you reference it in the future.

Interesting about Tom House - he’s a mechanics guru but I didn’t know he worked with football players. Fun trivia: Tom was in the bullpen and caught Hank Aaron’s home run that broke Ruth’s record.

He was being an ass. Nothing more, nothing less. I express an opinion and I get flak. I am not a P5 coach. I don't have to be, to have an opinion. I can merely say his son sucks and move on, if that is what is best.
