No headline for you whiney

Are you arguing that we are smarter than every other coaching staff in the ACC by keeping 10 slots open going into fall? If we were holding 3-4 slots open maybe I would believe you.
Do some research on just how many open slots other schools have before you make a post like this. Ten is roughly the average of players in the portal per team, it seems. Thus, it stands to reason that 10 is roughly the number of slots they have open.

Some 1,300 scholarship FBS players have entered the portal since Aug. 1—an average of 10 per team—and nearly half of them have not yet found a destination, according to numbers released by Rivals.com last week.

Read the article before you make posts like this.

"That’s 10 shy of the 85-player limit, the largest number of open spots of any team in the ACC."

An average of 10 players per team entering the portal since August does not translate into 10 open slots per team in March/April.

By my math 85-10 = 75 ::gasp::: Shocking!!!

Now wait until they see the rosters at other ACC schools

Don't you know that it's sooooo much better having 85 RIGHT NOW even if those last 10 are barely scholarship worthy players than having 75 on roster (currently) that make our roster better than most of those that have more than us?

Or maybe your headline could actually reflect the content. I would never knowingly click on an article from the UGAg propaganda machine, so I have no idea what this post is about outside from the article title unless you copy/paste some content.

It's Ken Suguira channeling all the butthurt GT fans with an article about stuff he doesn't understand, like recruiting and scholarship numbers.

@aeromech When the old regime and the previous to that regime’s supporters used similar logic it was characterized as the same old excuse making circle jerk. Now the new regime is rolling out the same excuses as the previous two but it’s not precisely, exactly the same as the old excuse making circle jerk. There’s a difference. You just don’t want to see it. They big time. All aboard.

On a separate note, I’m pleased we added 2 extra sets of hands to the staff. Who knows maybe they can overcome the weakest
links?

The portal has changed recruiting for pretty much every team. You’re gonna see a lot of teams going forward taking smaller HS classes and larger portal classes. It is what it is.
The Mud City Manglers were built through the portal.

I’ve never understood the angst about having 85 when way fewer ever see the field. I’d rather have 55 solid contributors than what we’ve had lately. We use to talk about how many ABacks we had when only 4-5 actually played. Under Collins we have WR’s and DB’s hanging from the rafters who never see the field. So I’m not worried whether we have 70, 75, or 85. I want 2 QB’s who can get first downs. I want 3 RB’s that know the plays. I want 5 WR’s who know the routes and can catch. Give me 8 OLinemen and 2 TE’s. That’s 20 offensive players. I want 8 DLinemen, 4 LB’s, and 7 DB’s. That’s 19 on defense. Give me a long snapper, a kicker, and a punter and that’s 42 players who actually see the field. So, no I’m no fan of Collins but I’m not worried about the numbers.

There are about 3 months left now for players in the portal to find a new program, and most schools will be having spring practice this month. I think one reason CGC decided to do spring practice early was to get an early lead on recruiting portal athletes, while other programs are still focused on spring ball and don't know what their injury and attrition status is. I'm sure the better players in the portal are getting offers and interest, but our coaches can target the positions they know we need and could sign some really good prospects who are getting nervous as they see time slipping away.

Yes...if we only had to play one year...we need players to develop into the core fifty-five for continued success. Not all players are core contributors but some are very valuable on the practice squad and to provide depth.
I am a bit more concerned about not having numbers but I understand your point.

SOBs

"he raised the team’s count of scholarship recipients (including incoming freshmen and transfers like him) to 75"

Summary. The program is a dumpster fire. Collins will probably be gone by mid season. Stansbury will follow. Better days to come.

One can only hope. Time to rid ourselves of this charlatan/used car salesman. It's simply amazing that he has survived 9 wins in 3 years by painting it as the biggest rebuild in North American spots. Or a testament to how inconsequential GT football has become to the institute. Time to clean house and get a real AD.
