No Way On New-weasel !!! ....

Re: No Way On New-wease !!! ....

Common sense tells you.

Do you realize we are under audit by the NCAA for 10 years and that anything Slick Rick did in the past at Colorado...then again at Washingont...could be a MAJOR NCAA slamdown on us???

Common sense.
I don't have a favorite in this thing hivered, but I'm shocked that you would come out this strong against someone who is in consideration for the job. For someone who has been so passionate about the fan base supporting the team, etc., it really surprising you would approach things this way. Especially the title of the thread. So if he is hired, does that mean you're not going to support us anymore?

Yeah, my hs coach had a foul mouth and liked to bust easels too.

This Neuhiesel situation reminds of the fable about the turtle and the scorpion:

The scorpion needed to cross a river. He asked the turtle to give him a ride on his back.

The turtle said “How do I know you won’t sting me?”

The scorpion replied that it would be suicidal to do so because then they’d both drown.

The turtle saw the logic and agreed to ferry the scorpion.

Halfway across the river, the turtle felt a sharp sting.

As they sank under the water, the turtle gasped “Why did you do that? Now we’ll both die.”

“I can’t help it. It’s my nature,” said the scorpion.

The only difference in our case will be that the scorpion (Neuhiesel) will jump onto another turtle's shell floating by while we sink to the bottom.

Mr. JTS, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Okay, a simple "wrong" would've done just fine.

RN was 33 years old when he was first hired at Colorado. He is in his mid 40's now. There is a good chance that he has matured some since then.

driving up to a recruit's house, calling him on the his cell phone and telling him to look out the window to look at the "head coach" indicates a serious character flaw that is not easily cured by aging. It is similar to stalking and we can do better than that in a head coach.

This is the one candidate I would

not support. As a former SA myself, this situation is Extremely important to me. Those that care more about winning than about doing the right thing, are the source of bigger problems with the world. If you win and sell your soul to do it, what do you gain?

I would've run through a wall for Chan Gailey and think we would've had huge seasons in store with the new recruiting success. What's done is done, and now that he's gone, there are some GREAT candidates out there - Chris Hatcher, Paul Johnson, Randy Edsall, John Tenuta.

What are we doing even considering a guy that is a sleaze? This hurts my trust of those in charge that he's even a candidate. I hope it is just a smokescreen.

I'm just curious how many anti-SRN's would have wanted to fire O'Leary if he'd still been here and winning in 2003. I do think there are a few that would have.

SRN ran into the NCAA, sure. But I do not see how he is "sleazier" than O'Leary. If anything, to me, O'Leary is sleazier. And don't link me another smear job in the press on SRN. Line the two of them up together with their respective deceits and NCAA troubles, and IMO O'Leary looks worse.

And it's impossible to deny that the Tech fan base as a whole liked O'Leary a lot more than they liked Gailey even BEFORE he started beating Georgia.

As for SRN wearing an NCAA ankle-bracelet -- boy that sure was an expensive ankle bracelet for the NCAA.

I am with Midatlantech. I would love a coach who works the system. SRN has is smart and he has a set.

I don't believe that GT can win big simply by hiring a higher character coach with a bigger work ethic than our rivals. That might have worked against Goff or Donnan, but it won't work now. Our coach isn't gonna be straighter or work harder than Mark Richt, and we don't have his resources. So he's gotta be smarter and more flexible. SRN is a proven guy at the top level who fits that bill.

We have committed to a high risk-reward strategy. If we were gonna play it safe, we would've retained Chan Gailey.

Even inviting him over for an interview would beesmirch
Rad's reputation with Clough doing backflips. This has to be wild ass bullsh*t from the word go.

I agree. RN is a snake oil salesman type that wouldn't be a good fit for GT. That is how he has done it in the past...get the AD excited about his vision and then "sort of" deliver and then leave schools with a tarnished rep. We don't really need that right now. There are other good candidates out there that are just as good in my opinion.

Which is all the more reason to support RN if Clough gives the go ahead. Maybe DRad could overlook some questions about RN's present and future as it relates to his past. I seriously doubt The Prez will let anything slide. If RN passes that test, I don't see that the fanbase should be divided.

Anyone that hasn't yet read the compliance reports from both Washington and Colorado should. Colorado report was October of 02 and Washington report was October of 04.

He's 2 for 2 on providing improper benefits to prospects, impermissible recruiting contacts, and getting the university hit with a failure to monitor.

If he gets hired somewhere, he's bound to make it 3 for 3 on all three accounts; hopefully that place is not Georgia Tech.

It's just totally goofy to me that we're even talking Neuheisel.

Ain't gonna happen folks. We'll hire ole George back first.
