What are the chances of having a 1 loss big 12 team?

Texas has the best bet but they have to get by Oklahoma, Oklahoma St, Texas Tech, and probably Nebraska in the championship game. I can see 2 losses coming easily.

Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Nebraska are unlikely...

This opens up a 1 loss MNC possibility for GT.

Of course you still have Penn St and Michigan (and possibly Ohio State) in the Big 12 but I think they drop 2 as well.

This leaves USC which always finds a way to lose 2 they shouldn't.

A 1 loss ACC team is looking good for the championship.

The winner of the SEC championship game will be a contender.

Maybe we should just win all our games first.

I think the ACC will have at least a two loss champion. Right now, it looks like there could be 4 unbeatens.

Having watched some football this weekend, I can safely say that we are not up to the level of some of these teams without some serious improvement. Talk of a MNC is pretty crazy, I think. I think 10-2 is a great season for us.

To talk about GT as a possible MNC team is pretty silly. We've got some serious improvement to do, especially with our line play. If you don't block, no offense will work.

So what you're saying is that to shut GT down, all you have to do is get us to miss our blocks? This offense really is gimmicky.

This is neither here nor there regarding our current standing but I definitely get how we need our linemen flipped compared to other teams - ie the bigger guys at guard and the smaller quicker guys at tackle.

The one thing I am disappointed about is some of the young OL guys haven't pushed some of these older guys for more playing time, especially since the OL has been "meh" for long stretches so far. I am confident the staff is playing the guys who are doing the best, I just would have thought the guys doing the best may have been someone different.

110% agreed. I'm thrilled to have the team we have. But I think they are, at this point, very strong contenders for a conference championship and then a BCS bowl win. Winning a mythical national championship is not impossible, but a very, very, long shot. I think 10-2 would be a very good season.

Yes, we could win every game on the schedule. But I think 9 of the remaining 10 games will be tough. 4 of them very tough.

The perception of the ACC is pretty low right now. If the Big 12 champ has 1 loss and the winner of the ACC has 1 loss then the ACC champ gets snubbed. That's just how it is. The pecking order (by national perception) is currently: SEC, Big 12, Pac 10, Big 10, ACC, Big East

We would need to have one less loss than the SEC, Big 12, Pac 10, and Big 10 champs for us to go. And this season if BYU goes undefeated they may have a better shot at the ACC camp (depending on how they look against FSU)

To shut any offense down all you have to do is beat the blocks at the line of scrimmage as Clemson often did against us Thursday night. In the preseason Clemson's defensive line was ranked as one of the top 10 in the nation. I’m hoping our O-line play will improve and I doubt the D-line of our remaining opponents has as much talent as Clemson.

I'm not talking about WINNING the MNC, I'm talking about playing for it. GT can make it through the rest of the schedule with one loss. Unlikely but possible. I do think we will get crushed if we play for the MNC this season...

Well, you know what they say, I had rather be lucky than good.

You spelled "nerd" wrong on your sign.
