You'd have to be a real dick for someone you know not to be willing to endorse your hire. It costs absolutely nothing and has no real risk. All of these endorsements are meaningless, just nice fluff to make everyone feel good.

Hell, if Collins gets another HC job five years from now I'm sure there will be people endorsing him again.

Still, it is nice to read.

George O’Leary doesn’t remember who it was who recommended Geoff Collins to become a graduate assistant at Georgia Tech. It probably would have been 1999, as O’Leary was going into his fifth season at Tech, having just led the Yellow Jackets to a share of the ACC championship.

Yeah. I think this mostly just speaks that George is not going to unduly torpedo any of the kids who worked or played for him.

All endorsements are meaningless. Anybody that crossed paths with you and was nice to you will receive an endorsement from you. Anybody who uses endorsements to help them to decide anything from politics to business is a person who doesn’t do much thinking on his own.

The anonymity of the message board is often the reason for the negative narratives. If this message board required name and or telephone number with each message, there would be very few negative responses. Also it would have less messages and they wouldn’t be very funny.

Sure, but my vague memory is that Collins got the job because he was an O'Leary guy. O'Leary may have played a part in him being hired. I'd rather we hire someone that Paul Johnson endorses next time.
