O’Leary reaction to Key

When y'all give meaningless endorsements do you lie or just omit anything meaningful?

I'm not in a position where anyone is publicly asking me to endorse anyone else.

If I was, I'm sure I'd just say true things about them that were good. I'm sure even Collins has plenty of good qualities, especially to those who know him closely.

If I'm privately asked about someone then I will be truthful or will say I don't know the person well enough to feel comfortable saying one way or the other. I have done the latter quite a bit when asked for professional recommendations.

I would only give a private, positive endorsement tp someone who is truly excellent.

I've found you can usually get a good idea from an endorsement by what's omitted. However, I've not been in a position where it was remotely as public as this.

Yeah I think public endorsements like this via media are a completely different beast, especially since they're not being used for hiring decisions or anything like that.

Why? He consistently out scoops KQ

Other things as hard as outscooping KQ

Since I’m retired I’m kind of out of the loop about references. I would imagine the use of them has become obsolete. I used to think it was the silliest thing to put down references on any job application. Obviously you are going to list people that will say good things about you. Only an idiot would give a reference that turned out to be bad.

You'd have to be a real dick for someone you know not to be willing to endorse your hire. It costs absolutely nothing and has no real risk. All of these endorsements are meaningless, just nice fluff to make everyone feel good.

Hell, if Collins gets another HC job five years from now I'm sure there will be people endorsing him again.

Still, it is nice to read.
yea boy, that's the way it works.

It's still a thing. I've had to laugh a few times when someone I know to be not so good asks me. I never turn them down and always tell the truth, which I'm sure has impacted their hiring.

It would be great if CBK can get the program back to this level, where the expectations are competing in the conference, top 25 finishes, and competing with, and beating, Georgia ( in BDS ffs).

~ In O’Leary’s seven-plus seasons, Tech was 52-33, shared an ACC title, finished in the Top 25 five times, went to five bowl games and beat Georgia three consecutive seasons for the first time since the Bobby Dodd era. ~

... in a time when the UGA program was adrift under Donnan.

Yes, he did do that, and he would have beaten them more, but not sure he'd have done the 3 IAR thing after Richt took over.

Georgia was easily the 3rd best team in the SEC at that time. They happened to be 3rd in the East behind the Spurrier and Fulmer buzzsaws.

O'Leary was 3-4 against UGAg and never looked overmatched. Lost 2 in the final minute and was competitive in the other 2.

When you get into upper management you can write recommendation and congratulation letters in your sleep, and usually do.

I endorsed the öööö out of your mother last night.

That's funny, because she told me you were pretty lacking. I remember because she compared you to Geoff Collins and I felt that seemed a little harsh.
