Official First Garbage Football / Season Kickoff Thread

What happened to Nebraska football? We all know Osbourne was like the Bear in Lincoln, but it's not like Solich was awful and they fired him. Twenty years later, they have become irrelevant and might be looking for another head coach. Did leaving the Big XII hurt them that bad? God, they used to be a terror, then again, the Vols used to be good too.

They fired a solid coach in Bo Pelini to hire Mike Riley out of Oregon State, who was a real reach, then replaced Riley with Scott Frost, who is the ponzi scheme of college coaching.

Their only problem under Pelini was that he was not one of the new generation of recruitniks. They'll get somebody who knows how to work a brand, recruit, and GM, and if they calm down a little, they'll be back.

You either have a top tier coach or you don’t. Alabama was nothing special from Bryant’s retirement until Saban was available. Why isn’t Michigan good? Or Texas or any other list of so called blue bloods. There are three good coaches at any given timeframe available and wherever they are at will thrive.
"There are three good coaches at any given timeframe available"

Same goes here. There are three good posters at Stingtalk at any given timeframe. I'm one of them, and I'm not telling the other two.

Some decent salt in there lol
Maybe instead of complaining about a coach who was one of their all-time best players and successful at UCF, Nebraska fans need to pony up the cash to buy him some better players. Just look at what he has to roll out there at QB. Embarrassing. Gonna take a lot cash to get boys from Florida, Texas, and SoCal to move to those frozen cornfields for three years. Fortunately, unlike the NFL there is no salary cap in college football. They can spend $250 million or more on players if they want. Until they do, they should stop their whining.

I just turned on UAB/JaxSt. It's on ESPN. Why not, it's football and I don't have anything else going on...

All 5 games from this weekend that ESPN just highlighted during the game feature ACC teams (VPI/UNC, Clemson, Louisville, FSU, Miami). Not a bad look.

Bama vs Miami. Hmm. I usually prefer ACC teams over SEC teams, but I really hate Miami, so I hope Bama runs them out of the stadium. Go ahead and crush their dreams early.

Sure do hope Clemson beats the hell out of U[sic]GA, too.

VPI/UNC - I don't much care for VPI, but they've been mediocre long enough that I wouldn't mind seeing them expose an overrated UNC team early.

Popeyes nuggets commercial - I wouldn't mind trying them, but I don't have a spare hour to wait on them.

Miami beating Bama would just make their late season collapse that much more entertaining. Imagine the size if those guy's heads after that. But being real, lol.

You should hope Miami beats Alabama and Alabama beats uGa as well as clempson

Watching UAB vs Jacksonville State on ESPN now. UAB's QB is a dead ringer for David Curry. It's uncanny.

Looked like one Jax St guy hyperextended his elbow or something getting stiff armed and another Jax St guy twisted his knee sliding into a referee missing tackles on the same TD run.

Why would I want Miami to beat Alabama? I despise Miami and I'm indifferent to Bama except for their usefulness as an impediment to U[sic]GA. I'd rather Bama just sit at the top all year and keep U[sic]GA out of it.

JRjr
The enemy of my enemy is my friend. To have Miami beat Alabama and then Alabama to continue to crush Georgia would be nice.
