Official Geoff Collins Fired Watch Party Thread

If GT (and/or its fans) cares about the $4-5MM buyout difference for firing CGC today vs next year, then this is all just a circle jerk... that's pennies in 2022.

These talking points just show how far behind real college football we have fallen. We are paying our coach bottom-barrel P5 compensation, and getting bottom-barrel results.

What's everyone's expectation for GTFB, that we are a top 25 program like we were under GO'L? Great, then put together a top-25 budget. Kentucky's coach is paid between 14th and 16th in the country, depending on your source, and he's paid more than double what CGC is paid.
This 100%. You telling me the GTAA can't find 50 boosters to put up $200k each? If that is so, we are truly ööööed.

And what if those boosters say simply that they will not give any $ to fix this mess until the school commits. Given the seeming indifference that the school prez has and TDope's incompetence, what are the odds that the school does commit to at least trying to field a competitive program?

Well it starts with getting rid of Clown first and foremost.

Chilling new blockbuster in theatres now! TITANTIC!
.
"But I didn't see the 10 story iceberg until it was too late."...Capt. Stansbury.
"Every man for himself!"....First Mate Collins.
"We are all going to perish!"....Tech fans who didn't see the need to enter the remaining life boats.

It’s like the Titanic except we’re not taking the life boats out to save money.

Then mess prolly doesn't get fixed.

But that's not really the option, if we are dead set on saving the money. At that point for him, its either take a reduced buyout now, or take a reduced buyout 3 months from now while experiencing the humiliation

But he'll still be collecting his salary for the year if he stays on, right? In addition to the reduced buyout after the season.

yes, you'd need to include the remaining 2022 salary in the reduced buyout offer.

He'd be presented with two choices, get $X now, or get $X in 3 months.

How about the school, and not the gtaa, pony up? I know I’ve had it with giving money to a bunch of incompetency. Angel needs to figure out this is embarrassing for the Georgia Institute of Technology, and an investment in sports is an investment that benefits the school too. A successful football program instantly helps all other programs, including the women's teams.

If hardcore football fans are unwilling to give to the GTAA because of its incompetency and the worry that the money won't be used effectively, there's zero chance that GT itself is going to divert money from the academic side of things.

The school is very limited in the financial support they can provide. They can reduce rent on the stadium and pay things like power bills, but they can't outright fund salaries and buyouts.

Thing is, I could see the academic mindset saying "if football is embarrassing the school, then get rid of it" instead of "making it not embarrassing"
